At the moment im stil driving el xr6 which have owned for about 8 years now its been a good car have had a few issues along way but has still served me well and has gotten me from a to b lol and at some stage soon down the track I might upgrade been looking at the ba's 03 and 04 auto

and my price range would be between $10000 and $14000 im not sure if I should have a look for ba xr6 na or a turbo

I mightnt be able to get any fairly decent turbo for that price range but even an 03 or maybe an 04 ba xr6 (non turbo) would be good car and still a nice step up from my old el.

things to note im not going to do any major mods and not driving long km everyday just driving local in my (country town) and maybe trips to the city maybe couple times a week which is about 30km away.

should I just look for decent na xr6 which would still be a nice car even coming from a el or should go turbo?

any advice is welcome thanks

Well it's a question of whether performance is important to you or not?

If you're on a tight budget then a turbo probably isn't for you, because along with the extra premium for the car, you have to pay more for insurance, and petrol, etc.

yes you make a good point sure performance would be good but have to consider the extra costs and maybe I should be able to pick a decent ba na for my budget and an ba 03 na are still nice cars to drive?

anybody else feel free to give me some advice

For 14 grand man you could get a 05 with low kays. My mate is selling a 04 with 60 thousand kays for 15k but its a xr6 turbo.

Its just a matter of being patient mate. I hved a ba xt ( witch im selling ) and waited 6 months to find the perfect xr6 turbo for me.

14k will get you a really nice car. Don't just jump at the first thing you see as there are HEAPS of ba xr6 none turbos for sale.

For $13-$14k you should be able to get a decent BAmkII with leather and premium sound if look around. Coming from an EL an na BA is fantastic but the tirbo is better still....cost is only a bit more but the performance can be worth it. As trade in BAII's are now from $6k to $12k (depending on what's it's being traded for)so someone private will want to sell rather than trade it in........

I would spend coin on the EL instead of 'upgrading'... different if you were going to an XR6t... but the EL with good suspension, tyres and a bit of a tickled engine will be much nicer to drive than the BA.

Unless ofcourse your EL is clapped out and will cost 10-15k to tidy up...

That link is not worth 14k. Like I said. My mate is selling a 04 xr6 turbo for 15k with 60 thousand kays.

The annoying and hard thing is being patient mate. I can say from experience that waiting is the best thing. Once you find one with 60 thousand kays or lower for a good price and is in good nick, Just jump on it. It doesn't hurt to pay someone 100 bucks to go over the whole car for you as well. I had a EL before my ba xt and that was a massive jump for me. Going from the xt to the turbo was even massive again....
