Car Troubles

Picked my car up from getting serviced a couple of weeks ago, and the car started running really rough all of a sudden, so I pulled over to have a look and at idle the car was rocking from side to side, so I turned the car off and had a look under the car as I could hear a noise. My cat converter was glowing red hot, so I waited for it to cool down then started it up again, now it is running better but still not at 100%. Took it to an exhaust shop and they said theres no rattles etc coming from the cat so they think its ok, and that it might have been a plug/coil, except the plugs that are in it are only around 2000km old. Happened to anyone else, anyone have any ideas what this could be?

Sounds like plug/coil troubles to me.

Unburnt fuel goin through the engine and into the exhaust burning in there making the cat glow red.

Even new plugs can fail, if dropped or hit on somthing or maybe a dud one from the factory.

A little crack in the porcelain will cause it to earth out on the head and not in the cylinder.

Make sure all your coils and plugs are clean around them and the connectors are tight first.
