White Dust From Exhaust

Gday guys, long time lurker, first time poster.

I recently bought an BA Mk II XR6T, 6 speed manual, premium pack, with 150k on the clock. Only noticeable mods to the car were an F6 intercooler and F6 CAI snorkel fitted.

Now, to the problem. I have noticed a white powdery dust/smoke that has been emmitting from the exhaust at high boost. Prior to this the only issue I had with the car was the plastic pipe that connects the intercooler return pipe to the engine would pop off under boost. I replaced a dodgy clamp with a new heavy duty one which fixed that problem.

Being a long weekend I have to wait til Wednesday before I can take her to the mechanics for an inspection. After searching here and other Ford forums I'm still scratching my head as to what it might be. I'm kind of leaning towards the Cat convertor being shot but I have heard of gaskets on the turbo causing white smoke too?

Any ideas/answers would be most appreciated.

Has your coolant level started to drop. White smoke is characteristic of burning coolant.

When turbo's leak oil they burn white smoke

Yes could be turbo oil blow by. Have you overfilled the crankcase oil.

Coolant/Oil levels haven't changed since I have owned the car. It doesn't have the look of condensation or anything like that but I did notice the smallest amount of what looked like white dust/particles on the ground near the exhaust where I parked the car last time.

Edit: Yet to change to change the oil as the dealership I bought it from serviced the car prior to sale.

Hate to be negative but if you got it from a dealer then you should give it a service. Change the oil and coolant and filter.

Could be carbon deposits from the motor. Might not have been flogged by the previous owner and due to this the deposits build up. Generally a new owner will wanna see how it goes. So getting up it may be getting rid of the deposits and give you the white powdery smoke

Have you ever been behind a car when you see like a grey white powdery puff comes out the exhaust, when they're accelerating hard. This is the carbon deposits being blown off

Just keep an eye on your fluid levels.

lol. Yeah I believe it hasn't had a good drive in a while as the dealership due to some problems with previous buyers has had the car for over 3 months. A friend of mine that has a Jetta has been told something similar where if he doesnt give his car a good drive every now and then the manifold can clag up.

I have always been told white smoke is to Lean, Black smoke to rich, Blue smoke is what you get when turbo seals, rings or valve seats are gone. And clear smoke or steam is either water in the exhaust or worse blown headgasket or cracked head.
