I'd be looking to buy one that is stock so its less likely to have been thrashed. My policy when buying second hand is to never buy a car with mods. Obviously I could be wrong and the guy improved the performance so he could drive like a nanny, but I doubt it.

Well,

The 5 speed manual is a box that can't handle a hard time. The 6 speed manual is much better in terms of power handling and durability.

130,xxx with a number of mods is something to be wary of, as if the car hasn't been looked after it will be a money pit.

As Harry said, you are much better off going with an unmodified car and doing the work yourself. The 4 speed auto's are ok, but if you can stretch - A stock BF or BF II will be best (BF II was the best of the B series) A few small mods will make it scream. Add a fuel pump, injectors a cat, and a tune and she will be a monster :spoton:

Yeah the one with mods has had a pretty hard time not sure about the other 2 I can get them

All for 13,000 which I thought it pretty good I will defiantly be looking out for a bf though, is there anythin major I should be looking out for?

Stay away from the 5 speeds, if you plan to modify it or do some spirited driving.

Modified cars can represent good value depending on the car. Some people pamper there cars, other people spend there last 5cents on mods and then can't afford to service or maintain it. I wouldn't rule them out though.

So the 5 speeds are rubbish? I was just really after a manual lol I was hoping to get around 350hp at the wheels and to make it reliable as I will be driving up and down the high way, budget is max 17xxx but would prefer not to buy one for that lol

Hey Sproulie,

At least try and stretch to a BA MKII, as they are the 6 speed manuals.

The engine isn't as strong as the BF onwards, but should hold that power quite easily. Might need clutch/plate upgrades if you plan on going any higher.

Just a custom tune should net you about 220-230rwkw so I'd say that's almost the power you're chasing :spoton:
