My BA xr6T makes a flutter noise that im assuming comes from the wastegate. The standard blow off valve is still fitted so what else can cause it? The car was modded before I bought it and the car yard where I got it from dont seem to know alot about its history. I have taken it to my mechanic to give it the once over and he mentioned something about a dial or something has been fitted to adjust the sound from the wastegate, but after alot of searching I havnt come across anything that is similar to this.I also cant see anything under there myself, though the wastegate actuator looks fairly new.

Could any of you more experienced guys shed some light on this for me?

I do like the sound it makes, just want to know how!

How loud is the flutter and does it still run the complete factory intake?

The wastegate doesnt cause flutters.

It has a growler CAI. Couldnt tell you how loud it is from the outside but it is comparable to the sound of a BOV, not quite as loud though. It does sound like it is coming from the exaust side to me but I could be wrong.

Ah ok, the flutters would be coming from the growler, the stock doesn't flow well enough to muffle them. Block the bov off and they'll be louder, get a replacement bov and they'll be quieter.

Yea from what I've heard the growlers are fairly loud.. When I changed my standard air filter to a K&N filter I noticed a noticable increase in flutter..

Flutter is back pressure hitting the compressor wheel yeah? As far as I can tell this sound is amplified through your air intake, so I guess the more open (for lack of a better description) or closer to your turbo the intake is the louder it will be right? Enter the dose pipe...

that's what had me worried as I had read that the back pressure could damage the turbine, I have also read that the back pressure on the turbine is perfectly normal recently.

In theory yes but I don't think there have been too many reported cases tbh.
