Ok I have a ba xr6t manual..

Was driving home tonight pulled in the garage and just lifted the bonnet nd felt the radiator hoses, they were defntly boiling..

Ok Yeh I was giving the turbo a couple of wind ups.. this shouldn't make the coolant boil should it..

Temperature gauge was under half like it normally sits, just felt weird

Anything to be worried about or get looked at, or is this just normal...

What do you mean the pipes were boiling??

Were they just really hot?

Were they steaming out water everywhere?

Any leaks???

If they were just really hot this is normal.

Boiling and halfway on the temp gauge?

I'd say it's the coolant circulating through the turbo that you can hear/feel. That's by design...boiling is not.

my temp sits on just under 1/2 around town and just over 1/4 on the highway. Quite often I pop the hood to check for coolant leakage and it feels like coolant bubbling in the top rad hose at 1/2 on the gauge(with the engine off). I didnt think Coolant could boil myself. My dad used to own a mechanic shop and said that its normal for a car to run at 1/2 temp.

My mechanic told me its running to hot due to the fact that my intercooler covers most of the radiater that is exposed and the little bit of radiator that is exposed has some core damage ie; hitting bugs 190km on the freeway :bopp: . So now im not sure, how hot should it run?

I reckon you need to find a new mechanic!

If the gauge doesn't go over half, fans aren't going flat-out, you don't have warning lights on your dash, the engine isn't running rough because it's starting to shut-down cylinders, and no coolant/steam pissing out of the overflow tank then it's pretty unlikely that your coolant is boiling from an overheated engine.

As mentioned previously I'd say it's the coolant still circulating after you switch it off, which is a bit of thermosyphon action to cool your turbo down.

ok cool. Didnt think he knew alot about Turbos after I spoke to him. He has been very reliable with my wifes EF wagon, has it running better than when we bought it. Might have to take it to one of the many speed shops here on the GC for anything engine related. Any recomendations?

tx again
