Hi Guys,

I installed a pre-made cable to play my MP3's via the AUX input but found I had to crank the head unit volume to get any decent level from it, & even then it wasnt the best so I purchased a pre-amp/amp module(5.8W x2 into 4 ohm) from my local electronics store.

Before I hook it up I just need to know whether this will work & improve the sound level, & most importantly is it safe to do so, as the last thing I want to do is blow my head unit. Basically it hooks up as follows:

Line Level Audio In Left/Right(ie MP3 player)--------> pre-amp/amp module---------> 4 or 8 ohm OUT Left/Right(to AUX I/p of head unit).

Appreciate any advice.

Get the aux input kit with the line booster.

The straight line in is a waste of money.

Ford Spares or ASL Logistics both sell the kits.

That will be the easiest way to do it. Everything just plugs in.

Hi Adam....thanks for the quick reply.

I did see the ASL line booster but I already invested in this one & prep'ed all the cables/connectors, & was about to hook it up & then thought I'd better ask the pro's on the forum 1st.

So all I need now is confirmation whether this would work or not(I'm assuming its similar to the ASL line booster,ie amplifying the line level signal)?

I have the ASL boosted line-in kit in my car and yeah it's pretty awesome.

One of my mates got this one:

And it farrrrr outshines mine. No static or anything over the line, which is still prevalent on the ASL kit ... Half tempted to get one myself ...

Hi Tony,

So the one you linked comes with a "line booster"/amp also? There is no mention on that link other than the cable & cradle!

What I was really after for my little project was how much power in(line boosting) can the input take?
