Never driven one but had a good mate who swore by his.So many to pick from that some of the obvious are forgotten. (Only for a moment)Anything after 86 for the Turbo I believe, Likewise for the 928. Both well within the price range. The Benz also. The Jensen? Well plonky we can see the attraction there. British bloodlines, unique styling, & 7 (is that correct?) litres of meaty Chrysler iron. Though for somthing really rare, you'd have to get the FF. ($ aside)

You might get an Espada though.

Expensive Daewoo only built 150 and l have NEVER seen one for sale. Unofficially the fastest Aussie production car ever, hows a 13.0 qtr sound? If l seen one for sale that was all original l think l would have to buy it Well Mondie I actually owned one back in 1985. I bought it off my uncle (who was John Goss' suspension guru) in pieces and put it back together.I sold it off in 1986 for $8,000 which was a lot for an XU1 back then.It had XU0001 number plates and I think it now appears in an ad in Unique Cars for a specialist car dealer on the South Coast of NSW.It was originally white and it had a strange compliance plate. It was actually stamped XU1 on the compliance plate and the body was slightly different in that it had pumped out rear wheel arches. The engine block was original for the car but the engine number was "NLXXXXXX"If I found it now I probably wouldn't want to buy it back as I would prefer to have my old GT back.It was a factory RPO83 with a QC engine, wide ratio bullnose Top Loader. 3.0:1 Detroit Locker, Kelsey Hayes 4 spots on the front and finned 11 inch drums on the rear. Also had factory tramp rods (offset locating arms), finned sump, aluminium manifold, Holley 780, 45 gallon tank, electronic RPM limiter and the rear guards were an extra 1 1/2 half wider as well as the rear inner guards moved across to fit large wheels and tyres. It actually ran 265/60/15's on the front and M50/15 Kelly Superchargers on the rear (that's 15 inch wide at the rear) without scraping the tyres on the guards. In that specification it ran 13.9's every day at Castlereagh Drags.I sold it for $25,000 in 1986. Couldn;t afford to buy it back now!

Bloody hell, sounds awesome. l had a 72 Bathurst XU-1 that l sold about 8 years ago. Man did that thing hammer when in tune. Problem was it would only stay in tune for a couple of months before diaphrams in the carbs perished and the mechanical linkages went out of adjustment. The difference in performance before and after a tune was amazing. Fuel economy was non-existant. Still the most fun l have ever had on 4 wheels.l think the NL block your car had was a replacement, the originals were stamped JP and if these were replaced they had the prefix NL. Sounds like yours had been racing at some point in its life.l would take a 73 Bathurst XU-1 over the GT (if l ever had the choice)
