All,

I am starting a thread for all of us that want maximum power, with the least amount of exhaust noise. The ultimate street performance car!

I have a very nice and quiet BF F6 Typhoon 6 speed auto, about to start with the power up mods. Here is my issue:

'I want to keep that quiet sleeper, happy to change the Dump and Cat.'

Other Mods:

Intercooler - APS (connected to the standard Cross Over).

Injectors - 60lb Deka's

Turbo - Flapper valve and 15 Lbs Actuator

In tank pump changed and additional pump added.

Cold Air Intake - Factory Typhoon with K&N filter.

I have an APS exhaust sitting at home, this is my last option as I want to keep noise as close to standard as possible. I know if this is fitted with the above package, even with the standard Cross Over I can achieve 380RWK.

What is achievable with the standard exhaust with new Cat and Dump pipe? What power have you managed to a get?

If you have done this exhaust modification is it any loader or drooney compared to standard?

hey mate, I have a 4" dump and 5" cat into a stock cat back with hotdogs swapped for the rear muffer and it made 335. At this point its becoming a restriction so that's about the limit unless u wanna be running more boost then is needed to make more power

Center muffler is more restrictive than rear. Inside muffler it becomes twin 1.75's... Replace center with hotdogs and it'll get heaps more. I had 350 on 15psi...

Pit lane just finished off a ute with a nice list of mods, standard cat back was holding back the power.. Stopped at around 340. Changed exhaust and ran 403 with same tune.

I know how you feel and am in a similar scenario with my fg. This ute has changed my view and I'm looking to change all but the standard rear muffler.. I'll wear that restriction.

Great feedback:

The Pitlane Ute Tune discussion needs to be discussed further:

Apparently the ute obtained 340RWK with the full standard exhaust including Cat and Dump Pipe. Essentially there was immediate 63RWK power hike once an aftermarket system was fitted. What would have been achieved with the fittemnet of an aftermarket Cat and Dump pipe?

I am not convinced that the removal or changing of the centre muffler hotdog option is the best solution - I think those systems are still noisy, you would be better off changing the full system.

Possible solutions:

(I) Instal an aftermarket Dump Pipe and Cat and retain the remaining exhaust.

(I) Change the entire exhaust with say my APS system (or your preferred aftermarket system) and retain the factory rear muffler.

Two questions:

(a) Has any one performed either option (I) or (ii?

(b) If so what was the power gain like compared to a full system?

© What are the noise and drone levels like with Option (I) and (ii?

If you want a quiet system, just spend the money on the nizpro exhaust.

If your after times down the 1/4 rather than just a dyno sheet, mid 11s are possible with just a cat change.

The ute in question had a 4" dump and 5" cat fitted and would only go 340 rwkw, it was an FG and I think FG systems are more restrictive than BA/F systems but have no concrete proof
