He gets out and his first words to her are "sh*t, I'm sorry.... Oh I have no insurance!" Great! He then admits fault to her and says he is more than happy to pay for all damages as it is his fault. Wife calls me in a panic because she has hurt our "first born"... after I calm her down I get the guys details off her and call him to sort out the nitty gritty. As soon as the formalities are out of the way he proceeds to tell me he will be calling his solicitor for legal advise because he believes he is not at fault.... WTF!!! My last words to him were something among the lines of get your head out of your arse and get some insurance you peanut and then let him know that the next call he would receive would be from CGU. After going to get a quote from C&L Jacobs at Tinglapa my car finaly goes in to get the rear door fixed 2 weeks later. It only takes them 3 days to sort it out and she is good as new. No excess to be paid by me, no affect to my 60% no claim bonus. Gotta love CGU!So I have had the car back for around 3 weeks now and I am sitting at a set of lights at Capalaba and hear the dreaded tire squeel. Before I can tell my wife to brace herslf we are shunted forward about 2 foot luckily for me I have the brains to leave a bit of space between me and the 4x4 in front and miss hitting his car. Great! Now my beautiful BF is crossbred with a digusting VT Commonwhore..... A quick look to asses the damage, and she is still driveable... I pull into the shopping centre and exchange info with the bloke. Poor bastard was a bit shaken up and says to me "My foot slipped off the brake pedal" . that's all good and well, but the dickhead fails to realise that I in fact use my rearview mirror and could see him up my arse all the way down Old Cleveland road fiddling with his radio or his mobile. Another call the CGU (at 6pm) and I am lodging a claim straight away. Once again, no excess and no hit on my NCD. Happy days! However the car is a little worse for wear.... Cosmetically it does not look to bad. But underneath she is a but bent... The spare wheel well is nicely crumpled, the left hand subframe is a bit bent and the cover around the fuel tank is hanging a bit low. So here I am sitting at work, nursing my whiplash and wondering if they will write of my car, which I have only had since New Years Well, that's my rant over. Stay tuned to see what happens with my car in the coming weeks!!!

Born and Bred in the RSA Posted 07/04/11 10:43 PM Share Posted 07/04/11 10:43 PM It really does seem like a run of bad luck. I remember with my old ride I had similar luck. Never nice to happen more than onceI am sure she will come out looking better than new.All the best mate

Nothing worse than seeing someone approaching too fast in the rear-view mirror when you've got nowhere to go After the third person run into my in my BA ute with $40k+ all-up spent on repairing the bloody thing I got rid of it. And that was acid rush...one of the most obvious colours that doesn't blend-in with anything.

Hopefully, no one was seriously injured. In December my wife and I were driving home from the Ford dealer in our AU. We had just closed the deal on a new G6ET. While stopped at a traffic light a P-Plater (doing heads down texting) ran into the rear of our car. Did $1700 damage. Luckily, I didn't have to pay any excess or lose my "no claim bonus". I would certainly have felt a lot worse had I been driving the new car. The AU looked great when I got it back from the smash repairs and I sold it privately for top dollar. On a side note, can anyone recomend a decent hire car mob? I am googling through some now but want to find one that is happy with 2 under 25's (me and the wife) hiring a car off them at a reasonable rate for upto 1 month.... Just be happy it wasn't anything worse like a high speed collision.

I see you posted in there too.If the twit is insured, then it shouldn't cost you squat to get your car repaired. Hire cars should be paid for by the at fault party. Including all medical bills and loss of income, etc, etc.Like you, the moron who caused my damaged came up with an excuse. Said he fell as asleep at the wheel. But I watched him in the rear view mirror before it happened. Anyone who can drive 200 to 300m at 80km/h, perfectly in the middle of their lane with their head tilted down and slightly to the left and maintain they were asleep must be amazing. I suspect the position I saw the driver in was more "I'm on my phone or reading/typing a text".I would have preferred he wasn't insured so I could make him pay dearly for his stupidity. Not going in til 09/05. I could possibly send the car somewhere else and it would probably be done quicker, but I know the boys work at C&L Jacobs and am very happy with it, which in turn is why there is such a long wait as I am not the only one who has faith in thier work For now, looks like I will be breaking out the good ole zip ties and race tape to hold the old girl together and stop sh*t from flapping in the breeze and vibrating through the whole car
