Paul which oil do you recommend for performance applications?

As you know I have used Royal Purple exclusively on 3 cars, but it ain't cheap.

I have used several tuners that swear by it, probably profit driven , but after 7500ks it's still like new

Ok guys, Thanks for all your input.

Decided to go with the Royal purple and change it this weekend (@ 6000kms'ish) (inc $250)

Then getting ford to do my servicing @ 15,000km's with my oil.

And then again @ 30,000kms and so on.

But just before this ^ service I'll get an oil sample kit from work (around $30 I think inc lab testing and report) to suss how the oil is doing, this should tell me the real story.

Ill post up my results. (but it will be a while)

BTW omg turbo falcons are freaking win!!!! Loving it atm.

Check with the company that does the oil sample to make sure they have a baseline profile of the oil you use on their system for comparison.

If they don't, you will need to send a sample of new oil with your used oil so they can compare it.

I've been thinking about this lately as I had a service at a mechanics and he told me to do the 'handbook service' and keep Ford happy with engine warranty he would use the oil specified in the handbook (he said it was pretty sh*t), not a good synthetic oil as I had first requested?? :dontknow:

But then again I suppose what mechanic uses makes little difference to warranty anyway as I change it inbetween services using magnatec. After reading the oil thread (what a read!) thought that would suit my needs. I'm still kinda confused as to why Ford would care about a better oil being used, or if this was BS.

If your using a better quality oil of the right viscousity then ford cant really argue over the engine warranty. Its up to you how much you want to spend on oil.

I run high quality cause I feel better about the engine getting raped by me with something that can really take it.

on the subject of oil, I don't really do many k's as my car doesn't get driven much. As an example, I had my oil changed August last year and have clocked up between 2500 and 3000k's since then. Should I just change it at 5000k's, or should I be doing it sooner?
