Tell me about it!

This has been going on for years! nevermind the flagship of their fleet in AUS, the Falcon XR6 or XR8, lets sell big NON-4wd cars to soccer mums! what has happened to the world? nowadays they have to draw all their focus on safety, bluetooth and ipod connectivity to sell cars! nevermind the re-engineering of the aussie 4.0l and and new design of the chassis and bodywork to make a more comfortable ride, it seems the public are more interested in turning down their aircon with their voice and which car will be more "green"?!?!

Don't get me wrong, one of the reasons I bought my car was because it was one of the firsts to have the 5-star ANCAP safety rating, and that will certainly prove effecient in the future, and like you said harry, its all up to the woman now. no way they will buy a big aussie 8 with 270kw or a turbo 6 or anything like that, they just don't have the passion that men do for cars! and I think that ford aus need to start looking back at their real target audience, the person who actually will buy the car! I'm willing to place a good wager on people who do own these cars, don't have them as family vehicles anymore, I'll bet it'll just be DAD's car, and mum takes the kids to footy practice in her volvo XC-90.

I agree with nearly everything that has been said. My brother in law bought a second hand BMW x5, and when I asked him why he didn't look at like a territory or something cause he could have bought a brand new TTG for the same price he couldn't give me an answer it turned out that it just looked good and cause it was a BMW. Funny thing is the POS kept breaking down had to be completely rewired costing like $10k sold it 1 year later for like half the price he paid. Many of my friends went the cheap second hand 318i route and all of them have had endless problems with them, and most of them are now in jap or Aussie cars, 2 bought jeep 4x4 and are regretting that as well.

I have had my T for 6 years it has 230000 km on it and other than some minor problems has never missed a beat and everything that has gone wrong are just minor problems that are cheap to fix.

Also aussie cars arnt just built to hammer down the smooth as silk autobahns our cars are built to tour the country and put up with dirt tracks and back street b grade roads. and even the fpv's and hsv's are still gt cars not track cars. Go drive an evo or sti for 1000k's and see how u feel when u get out, not comfy I know as I went from Sydney to Brisbane in a evo x and it wasn't a nice drive. There arn't many cars under 100k that can take a family pretty comfortably then run a 12-13 second 1/4 mile.

Too true guys. The only family guys driving turbo and V8 falcons are the guys with the balls to make the decision in the house. The rest are driving in their wifes choice of poor handling 4wd or pissy 2 litre euro cars that cost more than a new G6E turbo and do almost NOTHING as well as the ford.

I dont really give a sh*t if these guys miss out but it just means that the sales numbers drop so they might stop making these great cars and we have no choice but to either buy little buzz boxes or spend over 100k to get the performance.

For this reason, we have to get these pansy blokes to start waking up and buy the good old aussie family car.

Maybe Ford Europe has said no because they don't want to be inundated with requests for the cars in turn killing their own domestic market :P

miles away !

fuel is exorbitantly priced, roads are narrower, tighter, busier.

road tax is emmission based.

parking spaces are smaller and generally, wouldn't sell while there were a cheaper to runb alternative like a modeo ! .

I am a brit, never seen one there, not even the HSV , ever !

Shame really as I think the performance fraternity would like them !

Would love for the UK Top Gear to do a review on our cars. Aussie Top Gear is just rubbish!

Clarkson came out here in April and had a 335 from FPV and gave it back with shredded tyres; I know because they leant me the same car a week later. I saw a writeup he made about it in a UK newspaper the SUN I think and he canned it. He bascically waffled a bit about how good the HSV is or Vauxhall whatever, then said about the GT 335 that the engine was great but the rest of the car was a poor handling poorly built plastic waste of time. His final comment was "Why Bother"? So there goes any chance of his credibility with me. Sure like all cars it could do with some improving here ahd there but so could the HSV.

I always thought Clarkson was a tosser the Aus version of the show is complete crap :pooh: and the Euro version has become more of the same.

He would be comparing it to the M5 which is never going to work against in any dept apart from price. He's turned into an old whiny snob who loves Ferraris, Mercs and a bit of adultery on the side !....A Ford is no longer his cup of tea as he sold his cossie years ago when he started getting payed too much to be an obnoxious northern twat ! :blaah:
