Everybody raves about Japanese cars but my 2004 honda accord euro which I had purchased new needed its disk brakes machined at 25,000km and replaced at 35,000km and the steering rack has squeaked from 40,000km and the fit around my glove box is very poor. My friends 2005 honda accord euro needed its disk brakes replaced at 30,000 kms, steering rack replaced at 40,000km due to noise, brakes have rattled incessantly for the last 3 yrs, sunroof replaced after 4 yrs and the same crap fit around the glove box. Both our cars needed replacement tyres from 25,000kms which is not acceptable on a non performance car which have largely been driven like grandma's car. One of my clients had their BMW 325 continually go into "limp" mode as the car was so smart that it detected issues that were not there. Then the car would incessantly break down so he needed to get the car completely re-wired.... took weeks and he had to pay 50% of the time cost. Then there was the client of mine that had a E500 merc that was continually breaking down, reaching the point that the dealership starting offering to replace the car. I gave him a pay-out figure then they reneged on the deal so he started taking them to court. Merc's only reprieve was that he died of a heart attack (not necessarily related to this issue) so the family didn't continue to fight the issue, they just sold the lemon.I have a work colleague that had a Renault Megane which had to be in the workshop so often that as soon as his warranty was up he sold it for a fraction of its purchase price but was just happy to see the back of it. His old bommadore has not skipped a beat for 5 yrs... I think the Late model camira is a piece of sh*t, but at least it kept working. People love to bag aussie cars but in reality I have heard a stack of issues from the supposedly superior foreign made cars but people never hold them accountable or are embarrassed that they spent so much on "superior cars" that are breaking down so they dont tell everybody they meet. I have had three fords for a total of 8 yrs and have never been left stranded and anything that needed fixing was relatively cheap. I have been left stranded by Japanese cars that have cost a lot more to fix. People think that to show that they have "made it" and are more "sophisticated and successful" that they need to buy foreign cars. My brother who is a "Ford" man just spent 62k on a liberty GT that has pretty much the same features but less space and less performance than my G6E T because his wife didnt want a Ford. Lets face it, we have a reputation problem when we cant get Ford men to buy Fords when they are spending 60k. I think that the Fords are so under-rated its actually quite sad. I popped off an e-mail to FPV HQ a while back about how lacking their advertising is, in relation to their flagship FOV, the Boss. Only recently since the S/C came out, you wouldn't hear much about them. I just watched 2 races of the latest V8 cars races, 5 & 6 from NZ and I was shocked not to see any ads for the FPV's? surely if they don't want to advertise during prime time, THAT would be the place for a good ad, like the Alan Moffat one?? and that's just the V8, since I started my research into the F6, the only information I got was from this forum, and the Ford Forum as well, I'd only seen ONE ad for the f6, and that was in a QANTAS magazine?? is there something wrong with them? I mean, why wouldn't you want to get the image of these cars out there a bit more? such a joy to drive, insanly quick, and hardly ever any problems! someone needs to give FPV Advertising a good kick in the bum, cause clearly they've fallen asleep at the wheel..so to speak!! harryh Donating Members 166 Member For: 14y 6m 9d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 25/04/11 11:19 PM Share Posted 25/04/11 11:19 PM One of the biggest changes in the market is that women are now either making the purchasing decision or heavily influence it which is why my brother didnt buy the Ford. The guys at Ford might think that they dont need to advertise to their market because these guys know and love their Fords so they will buy it when the time comes. The mistake they make is that the broader market does not appreciate the brand and the qualities of the vehicles because they are not made aware of it. It's not just the bloke making the decision so the woman influences them towards other cars they understand. Long gone are the days when the husband would come home and say, "guess what love, I look in the driveway, I just bought our new family car" A big smile on his face looking out at the new Falcon in the driveway, the kids running out saying "whoa dad, you're a legend" and his wife also happy to have a nice new, safe car that will fit the whole family, luggage and shopping. In the old days, the Mrs would give him a blowie for looking after the family this way, these days, she would have his balls in a sling for daring to purchase it without consulting him. Man this world is tough for blokes and its time Fords marketing department realised they have to sell to the Lady of the house. D*ckheads in Fords marketing department have no idea!!! The frustration is its costing people their jobs, but not those in marketing.Ford Aus now build the best Falcon it ever has, if only somebody told somebody else about it. The irony is the public doesnt love ford anymore - they loved them more when they sold them sh*t.
