Okay so in a couple of months time I will have to make the decision between an xr6 turbo or an xr6. basicly im still on my p's and will be for a couple of years yet, but I want a turbo car so as soon as im off my p's I will be making the xr6, a turbo. so would it be smarter to just buy the xr6 turbo and take the turbo off and change the manifold ect. or just buy the xr6 and put the turbo on with an aftermarket manifold instead,

give me your opinions?

Bud,

No disrespect to you, but do yourself a favour.

Get a S*%T box 4cyl car, learn to drive for a few years then upgarde to a turbo when...

1 - you will be able to handle power

2 - ensurance will be cheaper

Its really not worth the fines, hassel to convert or worse you life or someone elses for ownership of a XR6T.

Just my 2cents

besides - you will be able to save a bucket load of cash and buy a new XR6T in a few years when driving a car that runs on the smell of an oily rag.

what 199 said was exactly what I did bought a sh*tbox manual corola on my ls learnt to drive properly in it, 30 bucks a tank saves u a lot of money down the track, grabed a nice bf turbo and couldnt be happier although I did have my turbo on the last month of my red ps got to love W.A laws.

smartest thing to do is just buy a crap car learn to drive and save money at the same time in 2 years time u can save a lot of money might even be able to affored an f6 :buttrock:

and a conversion is more than just an exhaust manifold theres buying the turbo, zorst, intake/exhaust manifold, cooler, piping, pistons, exhaust valves list goes on. if u MUST buy a turbo now get a turbo and debadge it.

I also subscribe to the 2nd post.

If you were considerably older, I'd be saying to you; "What's an N/A"?

But in your circmstances, an N/A is exactly what you should be driving.

I bet I sound like your old man

atm im driving an EF which im pretty happy with plan was and has always been to get a turbo car.

but yeh handling that sort of power is something ive never had to do so I really need to get some more experience in a faster car, although the ef does pull alright.

truly the only reason I considered buying the turbo was because it will be much cheaper and easier to take the turbo off instead of getting all the stuff I need to make the xr6 turbo. obviously either way I go its going to be a fair bit of work and a fair bit of money.

I dont think the cops will notice the rocker cover tbh lol but still ill probably end up painting it anyway, if I got an aftermarket cooler kit and sprayed the piping black do you think that would be less noticable then the standard piping?
