All good food for thought.I'm liking that 180 bend on your supply hiddeous, could do with one on mine.Maybe the tank should be a little bigger in volume but I used what material I had and really only put it in to get the bubbles out (hence the return to tank hose at the top) and to keep constant pressure and I figured that the pump supplying the surge tank doesn't need to supply much pressure, just flow volume. I have a walbro 340 intank pump (the one with the over-size pickup) but I was thinking of changing back to the original in-tank pump which should be heaps enough to keep the pot full and it would be quieter.I have the surge-tank installed now and even without the rubber isolators on the pump clamp feet I am surprised how quiet it is. Not what I expected after watching some youtube clips I have a pretty decent rising rate regulator I was thinking of installing but not really sure if there would be any benefit?I will probably be staying with fairly low rwkw with the BA motor. Just whatever boost the standard actuator with gutted cat will hold running with the 60lb injectors. Probably around 300ish I'm guessing?Chris

Nicer setup than my 180Deg fitting as the bend s a touch too tight and theres no clearance between the pump and hose.Bubbles in the fuel??

Maybe from the intank pickup like a bad hose connection.

I stuck a cheap set of BKR6E's in gapped to 0.8 ($5.90 each). I'm a little nervous on the pedal but working my way up gradually, making good solid power so far and frying up in second ok. Madwhip Member 73 Member For: 16y 1m 4d Posted 27/05/11 08:30 AM Share Posted 27/05/11 08:30 AM Gutted to see you popped your block bro.I run a November 2002 BA with 5 speed, apparently the first turbo in NZ. So if Ba's are bad mine is the worst. I got it tuned to 280kw atw. It goes well runs a mid 13. And most importantly has not killed the box or the engine. But did eat a clutch when I checked it for the drags one night. Now has a Exceedy clutch that is mint. I have a 12 lb actuator and ported out for larger flapper. It has an APS exhaust with no cat. 42lb injectors and the large inlet Walbro. I added a extra intake to the standard cold airbox and use a K&N panel filter. I use my car as my every day drive and use it for business so wanted to be reliable. Rather then telling the tuner to run x amount of boost or make x amount of power. I told him to make no more then 280kw atw to keep the t5 alive and keep the mix safe. Once the tune was done he said it could make a little more and with an aftermarket cooler could make alot more. How much more I don't know. The car goes well too well to race round Christchurch in. My car runs about 14lb boost if your wondering.I have some pretty aggressive Crow cams to go in but will need valve springs and a T56 first. I like the way a car sounds with cams and all the cars I have been involved with cams have been a good thing if the rest of the build is done correctly adjustable cam gears are good to help the tuner as cams do require a more detailed/skilled tune to get the car to idle, run at full tit and come on boost nicely. Of all the cars I have played around with the coon has been easy to get power but I'm sure that's due to it being twice the literage of the nissans and the big turbo they come stock with.Remember a big turbo flowing 10lb flows more air then a small turbo running 10lb. Time slips are better then boost and power figures when it comes to brag time.I hope your build goes well.

The BA is going well anyway. I'm starting to like it. I'm concentrating on getting happy power :D I have even put the standard actuator back in for better boost control in the lower pressures.Your rods and springs will be the same as mine now won't they? 14psi boost seems high for 280rwkw. I'm running about 10psi now and the car feels quicker than when I was doing 12.8sec on the 1/4 on the old motor @ 12psi with standard injectors (I know the zf makes a difference). I would def be looking at IC and piping options, the rest of your system sounds mint. If you can get your boost down you won't need the springs because you won't get valve float. Spool do some nice rod and piston combos if you are serious about putting the cams in
Madwhip Member 73 Member For: 16y 1m 4d Posted 28/05/11 08:09 AM Share Posted 28/05/11 08:09 AM Yeah I bought the cams on a whim. I would not be surprised if I never install them With the stock piping and cooler I know I'm at my limit hence why it's boost will be up. I just don't want to spend anymore cash on this car at the moment. I have a S13 Silvia running a very trick engine it's 2.1L now it is built strong to make 320kw atw all day for the track so chances are the coon will never get anymore work as if I add power I will need a T56 so with the added power and box I could have bought some nice new slicks a cage and run it for a season of circuit and then some. But who knows I just spent the day down in Timaru at the drifting and took 3 of my mates with me. A rx7 gave me a nudge on the way home but he was dreaming and so was the Expensive Daewoo SS ute but it did not stop him trying 4 or 5 times. At least he warned me of a cop up the road so he was not a total loss. The Coon is by far better then any other car I have owned for a road trip and that does make me want to make it better. Feel free to PM me. I have 1 set of Mahle powerpak pistons and Argo rods left and they're going cheap! And 1000cc Bosch flow-matched injectors as well!
