The boost had just started coming on and I had a full tank of gas. Something didn't seem quite right with the performance and there was a strange sound like a few quick, dull bangs and a flash of orange light, then just the sound of rolling wheels and then the engine light lit as I coasted to a halt :(Anyone got a spare engine or parts for a rebuild? Time for a forged engine??? if you go down that option lemme know how much it costs as I've been thinking about doing the same ..

Were you in a high gear letting the boost build or low gear? I know mine has hit 17 or so PSI on my flat 15PSI tune when letting it build in 5th uphill or on the freeway (bad move). You might need to hit up the wreckers if no one local has parts spare, good luck mate! Guessing it was just too much boost or something. There are holes at the front of the sump on each side and a big one at the back above the cross member which blew straight down through the oil baffle plate and all. Have read a few sad stories now and would like to turn the clock back please.I'm hoping my head is ok and I might get a second hand block and fit it out with an "Atomic stage 1 kit" Seems like a waste of money going standard again. Anyone know the safe limits for a 2007 BF Mk2?Oh, yeah that looks a good deal *Beep*, I would take the lot, but NSW is a bit out of the way and your dollar is ^ Edited 30/03/11 09:54 AM by RHR No need to quote above post. It shouldnt have blown, I would be hitting up your tuner. I wouldnt be happy if mine went under those circumstances. But then again, loading these cars up like you did seems to end in tears quite a fair bit. I would suggest go for a stock bottom end as a replacement. It should be good for well over 400rwkw. What power did you have before it blew? Your sig names mods and tuner that's all.Good luck with the rebuild.

Turbo looks good still.Looks like #1 and #5 have snapped the rods. #1 has put a hole through each side of the sump but #5 has cut the sump in half and part of the block. When I removed the turbo, parts of the block fell out and I thought it was the turbo falling apart.I have been given a BA non turbo engine.Does anyone know if it can be put straight in the BF and strap the turbo on?I thought there may be issues with compression (what boost can be safely run), the cams, no auto cooler mounts on the sumpand turbo oil return needs drilling. So if you know the answer to any of these things or can direct me to a thread I would appreciate it.I will post some pics when I get the motor out Edited 30/03/11 07:16 AM by riptide
ZAP No boost, no bottle, just my foot on the throttle! Lifetime Members 7,935 Member For: 20y 9m 11d Gender: Male Location: Sydney Posted 30/03/11 07:35 AM Share Posted 30/03/11 07:35 AM I would not be putting a NA BA motor in unless you want a timebomb under your bonnet. The NA and Turbo motors are very different and putting a turbo on the stock NA will blow it up.You would be much better buying a short typhoon motor from Ford for under NZ$4000 and know it will handle up to 400kw. If you stick with your origional plan, you will be replacing the motor again in the very near future.

My boss runs a race car with a na 3.8L v6 Expensive Daewoo with a flat 6psi boost and does real well so I was hoping to do similar.I just need to get it back on the road to tow the boat and get around You guys in Oz are lucky to have so many options. Most of the NZ performance shops specialize in Jap cars and Ford NZ tuck you hard Even the wreckers want about $4000nz for a long BA turbo.
