Hi guys,

Anyone out there have a standard 6 XR6 and are happy with the performance of the car?

I understand that it is slower than the XT BA, which is putting me off the NA and making me think Turbo.

I'll be doing mostly city driving, so what do you think?

cheers

Hey. Although I dont own a turbo or NA, I have driven both and must say that the turbo is in a totally different class. The NA has a good response when you put the foot down, but you dont get the rush that you feel when the turbo kicks in, its unbelivable. If you are not completely strapped for funds, go the extra, you wont be dissapointed, even with a completely stock standard one. Drive the turbo and you will never look back... ;)

NA here and having driven a few BA's recently I'm very happy with the NA and the only thing that stopped getting the T was cash. Drive em both and make a decision then.

Good luck, enjoy the roadtests.

I have an N/A. In simple words, its good - and I'm very happy with it. However, drive the turbo and you wont think twice. Its sooooooooooooooooooo mych better...

I have an NA - and I love it!

not as quick as an XT - how do you mean (same power and weight, with better suspension)?????

the suspension work, looks and interior are worth the extra money.

If you can afford it go the turbo, its great and its a bargain

If you cant (as I couldnt due to extra running cost such as fuel and insurance plus extra purchase price), then go the NA - its a very underated car - that damn turbo thingy stole all the limelight!!!

0-100 in 6.5secs is quick enough for me!

I bought myself a NA XR6 Ute and I could not be happier with it. The money was a problem when it came to getting the Turbo, but I will be looking at trading the NA in for a turbo in a couple of years. I miss the power of the turbo after I got rid of the 200sx Spec R.

But to answer your question there is nothing wrong with the NA if you can't afford to get the turbo. As for speed, the NA goes quite well and is very comfortable with nice interior e.t.c.

Yeh man, what mods?? that's pretty impressive! Little too close to the Turbo for my liking, I might have to go to a stage 1.

rabbit and saleen:

basically the car is a manual and only mod is a cat-back Herrod exhaust which cost $550 fitted from Ford at Parramatta (get to keep my warranty too!).

Anywho mate is now a mechanical engineer, who does turbo type work so one day I took my car out with him while he was testing and he hooked up his G-TECH (which he has had proven accurate at a racetrack - due to the nature of his new job).

Anyway had a few runs and average 0-100 was 6.5secs (with a passenger on board and half a tank of Vortex).
