yeh that's what I was thinking but most people say the engine will be fine as long as I do the valves springs so im not to worried about the new bottom end atm because im not going for momentous figures so im doing basically everything around the engine then saving for a built bottom end later on and reco'ing my own heads :D this way I can step intot he power instead of getting it all at once and killing myself

Mine had 156000km on it before I boosted it. Put a set of valave springs in first then the other mods runs and drives perfect.make 351rwkw but the auto died which is normal. As long as the car hasnt been abused it will be fine.

Mate I'd do everything except the short block. But keep it safe, so do everything else..

Valve springs

Surge tank

Cooler and piping, plenum if you have the funds

Exhaust

wastegate/actuator

gbox conversion.

Last of all a GOOD tune.. with it not too aggressive and keep the power within the limits of the engine.. then when u have saved up/if u want to do the engine your all set..

a short block is the bottom end of the motor sold by itself, the pistons, rods, crank, sump etc all the bits that suffer the wear and tear. a long engine is the top end included, which is the heads, valves and cams etc so for the BA the only real failig is the rods so tog et a new bottom end is like getting a whole new engine :D

hey mate that's damn impressive but the N/A blocks apparently take alot less wear and tear throughout their lifetime as they rnt getting forced air and running as high a performance, so luckily your 156k block was probably in much better condition then a turbo xr6 at similiar kay's all being equal. the tuner im going thorugh refuses to go past 400hp at the wheels (which is 299kw I think) on a stock BA engine or even Bf before 06/06 ( the LPG rods)as he hates putting out cars which even have a miniscule chance of failing or dying in the ass. he says they are well capable of 450+ hp at the wheels but they are not reliable so ill probably take his advice and stick to 400rwhp until the shortblock goes in then it will be plenum and actuator and boosting it up :D

short block is 5,000

t56 gearbox (essential)is 6,000

valves springs installed are 1,000

turbo oil supply line fitted is 350

something has to go and I thought step intot he power not get it all at once so ill do shortblock and actuator a couple years down the track :)

sell xr6t for 13k lets say, save that 15k and together buy an fg xr6t when your ready to buy a car. By that time for 28k you may get a modified one anyway pushing 350+.

I agree with *Beep*. Just having that gearbox conversion in the bill is taking it over the top.You got it at a good price so clean it up and resell it for a profit and look around for a later model or one already better equipped with the goodies.

Ah, cool. Thanks mate. Shows how much I still have to learn, I thought the long block might have been a bigger version of the stock engine or something, lol. :)

hey guys was looking at the option of not doing the box but I really dont think think its viable with my plans for bigger power later on with the new bottom end.

exhaust, injectors and tune this week.

getting a t56 6 speed from mal woods in september then and doing a safe tune to 300rwkw with a couple of mods incl cooler, piping, valve springs and under battery CAI etc

ill post more as it happens :D
