I had the F & R pads, Fornt discs and front hubs changed a few weeks ago, since then I have had what is best described as a whirring or clacking dull metallic rattle sound coming from the front LH wheel. It is consistant with speed as the car accelerates and is there whether braking or not but goes away when the wheel is turned left to right with even slight pressure. Just wondering if I got a crook or incorrectly fitted front hub. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its driving me nuts :censored: . When I took it back, all the mech did was put some rattle stop on it and proclaim it cured so it won't be going back to them again.

Not a loose bolt on the caliper?

Does it come when come and go when braking? (generally when you are turning you are also braking...)

Or one of the little metal shims that sits on the caliper in between the pad and caliper that is supposed to stop squealing is not seated correctly?

Usually bearing noise will happen when turning and you have also just replaced them... So won't be that...

Has it only started since the brake service??? It's not a brake hose hitting against something? Or the hose hasn't been seated back in the holder? (I could imagine this would rattle... And when you turn the wheel it would move the hose further away or closer and stop it from rattling?)

Can't think of much else... Unless there is a small stone seated in the caliper?

Cheers Worm, they had it back and put CRC rattle stop goop on the pads and it did nothing. I noticed tonight RH down it has also decided to incorporate a click with the harmonic rattle when its turned slightly RH down. I had the sound bouncing off a tunnel wall tonight and its pretty loud, definately something that was not there before the spanner monkeys changed the pads Discs and wheel bearings :censored: . Going to the US tomorrow for a month so I'll sort it when I get home, just chose the wrong workshop so back to being reamed by Ford I guess, at least my local dealer can actually fix things

I had a brand new hub go on me in 2 weeks. Was stuffed and noisy even in a straight line.

If they didn't torque it up right it may have done some damage? Jack the front up and spin up the wheels to check for a bearing problem when you get back doc. GL.

Thanks Straughsberry. I have a horrid feeling that a tyre changing spanner monkey was put on the job, after I got it home from having the goop put behind the pads all the wheel nuts were tight except the lock nuts which had been hand tightened only so I lost faith them, another $500 down the drain. Everyone is entitled to one mistake but these guys are much more interested in grabbing your money than fixing things. Not sure if I can say it but I will anyway, this is what happened from my experience at ABS in Osborne Park.

Struasberry do you know if these things (front hubs) make whirring and clicking noises when they are knackered. I thought rumbling was the common noise. :dontknow: Back to Ford :icon_ford:

Not sure. Mine was the usual bearing rumble and louder on turns. I think mine was a CBC bearing from memory. They did a report on my knackered bearing and they reckon it was much more than a few weeks old so they wouldn't warranty it. What do you do. $150 bucks down the drain.

Would like to take a look at the stub axle. Maybe they had a hard time getting the old one off and did some damage to the stub?

Just another thought. Grasping at straws but do you know what brand of hub they used? Might be an el-cheapo and inherently noisy or just sh*te.

Double check the backing plate for your disc mate, sometimes careless people can give the backing plate a whack or garb it when pulling off the old disc and what not, this can cause some odd noises every now and again

Cheers Senna. Just went to take the front wheel off and it is impossible with a wheelbrace, they must have put super glue on the wheelnuts :censored:

I'll send it to ford when I get home from the US
