It happens when you select drive from reverse and vice versa and also when applying light throttle turning corner or when the road surface is uneven (drives ways or drains etc) I have had a quick check of the diff U bolts and they look snug from what I can see as I need to jack it up to have a good poke around.Anyone got some other ideas or points to check? When it does it almost sounds like the Lsd in the diff is not releasing causing like a teeth slip sound when turning and very light throttle. One of mine was a little bit loose and made a bit of a noise in the same conditions. Has she had a hard life? Mine has done over 100k and still no trouble. As I said, run a spanner over everything. When's the last time the diff oil was changed?

Lift one of the rear wheels off the ground and see if you can spin the wheel. If you can the LSD is broken. Lucky it still under warranty. My ute was doing the same thing. $2000 later a new super strong diff center and no dreaded noises.

I will check and do the simple things but it is alot noiser than my old BA MkII.

O Trader Member 88 Member For: 16y 2m 20d Posted 26/03/11 01:52 PM Author Share Posted 26/03/11 01:52 PM (edited) Bingo...... I finally slid under and checked the tension on all four of the nyloc nuts on each side of the diff U bolts and they all tightened up some. I got approx 2-3 full turns out of one on the right hand side and since this has been done I have not heard a peep, clunk or squeek from the back end.Ford QA takes it up the (you know where......)
