Cause it has just about drove me insane with its non-stop rattling when my music is on!I have tried and failed...no visible screws or bolts, only a tiny slit where its stuck to the window..think that has something to do with it..tried using a flat head and felt like the window was gonna break so thought I'd get some advice first!Cheers!! I actually used a screwdriver thing with an angled tip. I think its like a nail remover. Made it much easer. Then lightly tap the mirror base upwards with a hammer and it should slide off.Dont hit too hard or you might break the window mount off the windscreen. Will end up costing you a new screen then.Installation is reverse. Just tap the base downwards until you hear the tab click in.

Wasnt that hard of a thing to get off. I just used a small flat blade and put it on the tab and levered the tab and jiggled the mirrior and it slide up and off. Took some pics so you know what it looks like. need to get the screwdriver between the metal tab and the actual mirror Now who knows what part actually rattles? and how to fix? I got a cable tie and cut it into about 2 x 1.5 cm bits and wedged it on blth sides of the base. or as JC807 said use ice cream container.

The photos help make more sense of the situation. I had a feeling it was the base, as I tried stuffing the internals with cotton balls from the little tab beneath the mirror that changes the angle...I managed to cram in at least 30...made absolutely no difference lolI noticed the base of the mirror has 2 openings, one from either side. Do you insert a flat head into both sides when taking the mirror off? Or just one??Ill give it a shot with the cable tie or JC807's solution with the paddle pop sticks, if that doesnt work, trusty old blu tak should do the trick ;P
