Ive got a Xcal3 for my car so after finally looking through the instructions I found that data logging can be done with them.

So I did a few google searches and found some instructions on how to set up the xcal. after following the instructions I selected 'start data log' on the tuner. it told me to start the engine, after doing this it changed screen for a second or 2 and then said 'communication lost'.

Im after some pointers on what I could be going wrong or how to work it properly. I dont want to change anything with it, im just interested to see what my car is doing.

It seems like a bit of a waste of money if the features of the tuner cant be used properly.

Any help would be good

I can only get mine to log when I run it straight to the laptop Livelink software. It always lists values of zero for the variables if I try and log to the device, very annoying.

I read that the laptop is best for logging but also read that the device can do it but for a shorter time obviously due to memory. I'm not too keen on cruising around with the laptop in the car.

I have down stacks of logging with livelink on a laptop & works great..... live link 6.3 is very stable.

As for using x3 for logging, pretty sure its something that can be done but not high on agenda for AUS sct customers, still a lot of bugs.

I have modified tunes and sent them in cef format for customers to use that they can upload themselves with custom tune loader into there device then flash to vehicle.

Holden & EFI LIVE have customer handheld (black box) data logging & tune upload facility allowing remote tuning of vehicles, as all is done via email or remote control or PC.

I downloaded the livelink software from the herrod site and now the computer is saying it cant read the hand held device.

is there a driver that need to be installed to communicate with the tuner?

I've used Live Link 6.2 heaps of times, it was the reason I changed coolers when I saw the inlet temps on the old cooler I freaked!

Worked faultlessly for me and I never had any dramas! Oh apart for trying to find one of those printer style cables that you need to plug into the deivce and laptop!
