Hey guys got a rattle from im assuming the gearbox? When the car is in netural with the clutch out there is a slight rattling sound that I can hear from sounds like directly under the shifter, can hear it outside the car not really inside the car. If you give the throttle a very light stab it will viabrate a touch more as the engine somes up in rpm, will only do it for a second though. Also if your in to high of a gear it will rattle quiet bad ie. If you come to a set of lights in second and not come to a complete stop and try to keep going in second it will rattle untill the engine gets to a better rpm.

The rattle will go away if you push the clutch in aswell. It only seems to be when its out.

I have had the clutch replaced a few days ago but it hasnt changed at all. It did it before they changed the clutch.

So anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? I had them check the gearbox oil and was told all was fine

How much oil was put into the box?

If it was less than 5L try putting 5L in. That should quieten the noise down.

The noise your experiencing is Roll over noise. They tend to be a little more noisey when they are warm, however this can be all but eliminated with re-shimming. My work ute is dead quiet, even after a 2 1/2 hour drive to work.

I'd also recommend using Castrol Transmax Z oil, and changing it every 20,000k's. Transmission and diff oil's are always the forgotten oils, and generally are not changed regularly enough.
