I have noticed (in Melbourne) that the 95 Ron at Shell is now only 4 cents cheaper than the 98 Ron. I am sure a couple of months ago it sat mid way between the 91 Ron and the 98 Ron which had about a 14 cent difference

Yep, expensive here in Western Sydney today 160.9 per litre = $96 for 59-odd litres! I love fuel cards!

What gets me is the difference between 91 and 98. Few days ago my favourite caltex was 20c above everyone else so I go to BP and 91 was 1.30 and 98 1.53. WTF?

but yeah I don't drive that much so not a huge issue...

Fuel is actually not that expensive when you consider all the searching & drilling to find the oil & then sending it all over the place to get refined & then distributing it out to pumps. On good fuel consumption you can travel 100km for about $15. Cost you more than that in horse & cart.

Actually a fair portion of the price we pay is tax. Neither political party will ever back down on it because it's a sneaky way of diving the hand into your pocket without people really noticing. Everyone just bitches at the fuel companies instead.

...not to mention the fact that 10% of every price increase goes straight in to Joolya's pocket in GST, along with all the other excises thrown in there. Gubbyment rubs it's hands with glee when the bowser price goes up.

Don't forget BP's about to get the sh*t sued out of them so get ready for 5 bucks a litre in the not to distant future..
