hey guys, I just posted up about the zorst ive just brought, its a mild steel xforce single 3 inch with 3 inch dump and 4 inch cat with stainless mufflers. Now I know everyone says about getting a tune when changing dump or cat but ive spoken to a couple of tuners and they said that it will be better than stock without a custom tune, but obviously better if I got the tune but I dont have $1500+ sitting around.

Now my question is can anybody with actual experience tell me if I should be ok? just because on forums and stuff you have people who think they know what theyre talking about when they actually dont.

Cheers fellas.

You sure its only a 3" system mate? Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure a single 3" system will flow less than the standard xr6t exhaust.

Most of the xforce exhausts on xr6ts consist of a 4" dump, and either a twin 2.5" system or a single 3.5"

As above, I wouldn't be putting it on the car until you have funds for a tune. Save a little more and chuck some injectors and a fuel pump in it at the same time.

friken lawl indeed.

you need a retune. You risk overboosting/blowing everything up. Not to mention car going into good ole flashing D mode.

theres been a few people that have installed exhausts without a tune and have had problems while others havent. cant say myself as I havent done it. id want boost and a/f at least. gotta remember these things run rich as stock.

f*ck me dead this place full of experts... relax a bit boys, you sound like it will blow up as soon as it's started with the new exhaust.

My car had a full xforce exhaust without a tune and it was running fine, only few times did I notice a slight ping in higher gears when cold. The car had 2 runs on 2 separate dynos (Autotech & C&V) before a tune and it was running fine, I think it recorded 6psi on the autotech dyno.

In saying this there were plenty of people who experienced overboost so looks like it depends on the car and also on the exhaust fitted.

Yours could be fine or it might not be, it's up to you if you want to risk it. If you really want the exhaust fitted spend another $100 and put it on a dyno to see if it's running ok. If it is than great, if not take it off until you save for a tune. Or just save for a tune as you will get it anyway.
