Hey, if I were to only replace the dump pipe, mufflers, and cat in the exhaust to higher flowing ones, will this let the exhaust flow much better, or are the actual pipes a restriction also?

I want to get a 4" dump pipe (which brand is proven?), run no cat (is this a good idea, or will be counter productive power/flow wise?) and replace both mufflers with a couple of resonators (are both mufflers restrictive, or just the centre one?).

hope you can help, as this will be alot cheaper than buying a full exhaust.

im only after roughly 330rwkw

Leave dump as is... Replace cat with high flow 100 cell cat... Rapids sells for less than $200... Get it welded in. Remove center muffler and either replace with straight through pipes or hot dogs... Prob $500-600 all up Inc labour... Will flow enough for 330+... I had 350 with this setup and had no issues with exhaust flow...

Alternatively, you can get a full stainless xforce exhaust for $1500 from http://bestmufflers.com either 3.5 inch or twin 2.5... Both will make over 400...

Don't get a rapid cat

Read about the incorrect ones in a thread on here. I brought the cat pipe and it had a sh*tty cat that wouldn't flow 270rwkw and now it's a dead weight with no reply from rapid. Get a 5" body 3" in out cat. Mich at pit lane supplied me with a 200cpi one and it will support way more than the 311rwkw I currently have

You will see almost no difference between a good 100 cell and no cat at all. The fine for no cat at all is stupidly high (if ever caught)

If you get a good quality cat you should be able to achieve the numbers you are looking at without too much drama depending on what other mods you are doing. If you don't get there, then replace the centre muffle with a better flowing one.

I just purchased a 5 inch body 100 cell ballistic cat from sureflo exhausts on another ford forum.

They are running special at the moment through that forum.

Ballistic cats seem to be a good bit of gear with a good rep so I would look at getting one of these. Its the second one I have bought. The first was fitted to my ute. I am yet to fit this one.

okay, I should have mentioned this car is not for street use (only occasionally, if my DD is off the road), its mainly going to be used for burnouts/drags, and I was wanting to know the cheapest route for a largely improved flow.

from what I have read on here and other topics, if I go 4 or 5" dump, 100 cell cat (or none, which is cheaper) and remove the centre muffler, I can get the most out of the stock exhaust.

is the rear muffler much of a restriction?

thanks for the replies guys

never heard of a 5" dump mate. drop your exhaust at the drags. spend your money on making the exhaust quick relese.

Cheapest and least restrictive and not a road going car?

4" straight through. No mufflers. Mild steel pipe is cheap.
