First off, this is NOT a tyre comparison post. Please don't turn it into one. There are plenty of those in the archives. This is simply my observations, and hopefully, may prevent someone from losing control of their car in the wet by being forewarned.

I've only had my G6ET since the beginning of December and yesterday was the first time I really had it out on the highway for any length of time. I had to drive from Caboolture to Maryborough (250k) and near Gympie I ran into heavy rain. I wasn't going that fast for the conditions. Traffic was light and visibility was good considering the downpour. The stock Dunlops began to hydroplane at 90kph (posted speed limit). The front end became real squirilly (ie; scary). At 80kph the problem disappeared.

I'm running stock rims 19" G6e turbos and have re001s

They seem like a much better tyre than the sportmaxx and you can get them for $220 each!!! Not $600

Just see how long these will last as they aren't really an all-round economy tyre. That said they are better than the pzero nero they replace

My 18" Dunflops went in the bin two weeks ago after 30K, and the newly appointed FK452s are nothing short of a quantum leap in front. Agree - I was always hesitant in anything over a light shower.... very little feedback from the pointers up front. Different kettle of fish now though.

I dare say that the greater percentage of performance tyres outperform the standard factory rubber.

When I first got my car I was shocked at how little traction the car had compared to my previous car. Everyone was asking me how much better it is and do I miss torque steer. The F6 was a joke- could spin the wheels all day. Can't even baby the car around without wheelspin now.

I agree with all the negative comments about the Dunlop OEM's but the thing that annoys me the most about them is even at correct or higher tyre pressure they always look flat!:bangcomputer:

Must have really soft sidewalls, but if I had a dollar for every time someone said I had flat tyre's I'd of replaced them long ago.

Got new wheels on the way and am gonna give the Falken 452's a try.

On another note I remember last winter showing a mate how bad the tyres were in wet weather and with only applying a small amount of the gas pedal on and off went up the road skipping sideways :surrenderwave:

hahaha I get the same comments also, except once it was actually flat, doh!

I recently found myself a little sideways, I thought it was my poor-ass driving skills, but after reading around, seems the tyre has a lot to do with it too... no excuses for my driving though hehehe

this year will be my first winter, so I guess I should take it easy.

I'm running the stock dunlops in 19 inch as they came with a set of FPV wheels I purchased a few weeks back, and I thought they weren't too bad compared to the previous tyres I was running on my stock 17's, which were some crappy Bob Jane tyres that were on there when I bought the car. In the dry, the car would kick out sideways when the accelerator was planted every time without fail lol, forget about the wet. I had to drive around like a grandpa in the wet. Now I actually get some degree of traction. I will probably upgrade to Bridgestone Potenza RE11 once I thrash these though. They look like a good tire.

Miss torque steer - dude, WTF!! I've had a mini with a cooper s spec engine and two ET turbo pulsars. The torque steer was the worst thing about both of these but yes, no traction control or a decent diff. I can understand you liking the pull out of corners but do you like arm wrestling or something?
