My job doesn't depend on sales of any of these products, and I'm not talking about the viability of local manufacturing. All I was addressing was the perceptions and misinformation that you seem to be pushing about the fuel economy of the Diesel Territory.

Besides that, I agree with most of what you said. Today's consumer and competitive market is making it very hard for ALL local's to compete, but there are some obvious and legitimate reasons for the low sales of the local product, and that lies squarely on high level management at Ford Australia and their failed strategies in the past which has now put them back ~2yrs!

Sorry mate I am not having a go at you.

It was at Ford. To sum it up it is a what .... 50 year old chassis design. A ten year old body with a new grill and a few frilly bits. The interior looks FG and dated already. And a ten year old donk that after 40,000k's leaks like a sieve. Tow a few ton with it and it leaks in less time. Fair dinkum sometimes I think the Qtr horses I am towing could get out and do a better job.

Ford basically bought all the surplus motors that BL could not sell. It isn't a bad diesel out of the crate, but it has no life span. And that's what makes it a bad diesel.

I have watched all the clips on it and the one I quoted was the only one to say hey it uses this much at this speed. The rest all cite Fords figures. Like he said to get 8's he had to travel at 80k.

Around July this year we are goign to introduce legislation that makes it a offence to do 80 in a hundred zone on motorways and highways. Hopefully.

With the price of diesel in this country it's a joke. Unless you have a primary producer ABN and you cant write off the fuel its not a cheap alternative. Not with the lifespan of that motor.

If I was Ford I would pull my finger out and get the bloody LPG sorted and use the LPG I6 as the economical alternative. And the green alternative. Because anyone with brains knows it is. Really put some effort into the LPG system and its a no brainer at all.

We have so much of that gas in the ground it's not funny. It's cheap as chips and as a power source it's brilliant. Diesel is fine in Europe where they have no LPG and ULP is 5 bucks a liter. Here.... unless you are hauling over five its not that cheap. Not if you include the bigger buy in. The higher maintenance and running costs of it. Lets face it this car is aimed at the family guy andf soccer mom. And they will lease it on a four year contract. For mine it will be very lucky to return value in that time. very lucky indeedy.

We all bag the crap out of Ford admin and hierarchy. But globally it's the only motor company that has not had to put it's hand out to their respective governments to stay alive. Good for them I guess ... but someone is paying for it.

LPi (liquid phase injection LPG) is only a few months away and its a cracker.

And that should take the Terry to the top of the list. Maybe keep the Falcon alive for a few more years as well. With the way the I6 makes its torque strait off idle it's a marriage made in heaven.

Something the Generals V6 just cant do no matter what they do with it.

:pleasantry:Wouldn't that be one of life's great ironies. Percentage wise it would have the least affect on weight and balance.

Wheels just put out the oil burner Av'ed 10's on highways runs around the outback. Actually kicked the Bewaahs butt for ride and comfort too.

Be nice with a teeny weeney turbo on it with gas. Definitely greener with the dual burn affect and maybe even more economical. Driven the same as an N/A that is.

brought the new street machine mag, had a topic about the Expensive Daewoo saying they are sticking with RWD till atleast 2018. ford on the other hand as they wrote, meantime, a decision on the falcon's future will be made within 6 months. Unfortunatley the signs do not look good, with the aussie designed model liklely to be replaced bvy a smaller US designed car using a front/all wheel drive platform. Not only will this mark the death of the rear drive Falcon but it'll also mean goodbye to the iconic inline six and V8 engines[ including the supercharged miami V8 in fpv ], replaced by smaller capacity atmo and turbocharged V6s. this is on pge 12 of the new streetmachine.
