I think it's 20% or 22% of a new car, how many people work at ford so you do the sum of lost sale's. make's you wonder hey.

The irony is this time last year we were running 6 day weeks.Ford sales are up across the range on pretty much every model except whats built here (falcon and territory).More Hiluxes get sold a month than falcon sedans - I like to blame marketing, and they think they're doing a good job

I think public perception is the issue along with $1.50 a litre fuel costs. There are way too many A-B commuters who couldn't give a f*ck about Aussie engineering nous and go and buy a bland white or silver Toyota. Then the 'Euro' snobs who trash talk aussie cars every chance they get but quietly dismiss or overlook their own cars faults. It also doesn't help when Ford US won't recognise and back the product and allow it to be the global RWD platform. Gives me the sh*ts!

Guest EGOXRT Guests Posted 08/03/11 07:55 AM Share Posted 08/03/11 07:55 AM The soccer field at Ford is full of stock as is the other holding yard, sales must be going great guns...

They were great value but being a bit selfish, I'm glad they're finished. An extended run would have hurt resale. Then you had series 2 Late model camira come out, fuel skyrocketing, people losing jobs, etc. So, perhaps it's a timing thing.Other than the above, the FG has gone a bit stale in the market IMO. The VE is 2006 release yet it's 'fresh' again with a superior tech pack (standard sat nav, etc) and redline option. Again being a selfish *beep*, I'm happy for 2011 Turbos to be identical to mine. However, I think series 2 FG needs to happen. New wheels, premo sound standard (piss off the puss screen) and to compete against redline, a brembo option on Turbo models. Do that with say leather for 2 grand (same as redline price) and I'll pre order one!

As was said previously, Hilux hammers Falcon, but we are not comparing apples with apples. Consumers tastes have shifted away from big sedans and what will always hurt both Falcon and Commodore. Ford remain profitable, but Im sure Im not alone in saying that their Advertising Dept are total Shoite..displaying little imagination and courage. Bottom line is all manufacturers need to shift units and Ford aren't helping their tenuous position at all with such a lame effort from their own people. Every vehicle sold new soon becomes someones near-new purchase and keeps the whole industry ticking over with respect to spare parts and (cough cough..) servicing and accessories. Expensive Daewoo may be selling their own soul with the cut-throat discounting, but theres no denying that there are many more Crumpadores roaming the streets than Falcs. I do agree that its a lot deeper issue with regards to sales than just fuel economy.. I sincerely hope Ecoboost works well for all our sakes and keeps punters in the venerable Falcoon.
