To me, this says they've given up already. Why wouldn't you try and get money out of the government if it was possible...?

Holden's chairman, Mike Devereux, has warned the government that reduced support will endanger continued investment by General Motors. But Mr Hinrichs said Ford would not follow a similar course of public lobbying or complaint.

yer saw that on the news this morning. so safe until 2016. does that mean we will see another model after the fg mkII here?

It says that they will Upgrade the current engines to meet the next lot of emmissions regulations, so I'm guessing there will be a MkIII with better fuel economy but with the major chassis and engine components unchanged. It (like the MkII) would likely have extra 'features' like auto dimming headlights, auto wipers, maybe an internal HDD for music, etc.
