Hey all , just posting this up to let you know how I got reemed up the ass by Ford today , I bought a second hand 2004 BA XR6 Turbo from a Ford dealership on the northern beaches about 3 weeks ago and about the second day I had it I went to open the bonnet and the bonnet release has been broken away from the fuse box and hangs down near the accelerator pedel , secondly the car has now just started to run rough and shakes when it idles in Park or Drive and am hearing a light pop in the exhasut note and lastly the drivers window is taking for ever to go up . So I have taken the car down to them yesterday to rectify the problems. Picked the car up last night and was told that the problems were fixed and noticed I was down nearly half a tank of fuel !

1)Was told the bonnet release mechanism and cable have been changed and the problem is now fixed , but got home and went to open the bonnet and the mechanism drops to the floor (have checked the cable and it is my original cable as it had a nick it the side of the cable in the same spot still ! )and the cable wasnt the problem it is the fuse box base that has broken , the bit where the bonnet release slides into! so problem not even looked at!

2) Was told that the rough idle / shake was a normal thing for the BA Xr6 turbos due to the style of the catalytic convertor that Ford uses in them (So I asked if it brough up any codes in the diagnostic scan and he said " we didnt need to do ones as we knew what the problem was already " and said if I wanted to have the ecu scanned for trouble codes I would have to pay for this service ! "

3) The only thing they seemed to have fixed was the Drivers window as it now goes up alot better , but ..... they have managed to get silicone lube all over my drivers door trim , seat base and on the outside of the car on the door and sideskirts !

So am going to take the car down tommorow and chuck a wobbley at the service manager ,and demand some answers !!!

any input from you guys or similar stories would be great !!

If you are talking about a certain Brookvale dealership, then I share your pain. I have to diagnose the problems and then tell them how to fix them.

Thei Factory Trained monkeys have NFI. as only one "Piere'" has a clue. Speak to Chris the service manager as he seems to be helpful and has worked there for a few years.

No wonder why gmh are always out selling with a inferior product.

It's ford service that wrecks Ford name.

I would go directly to head office with your complaint as dealing with the same dealer

Won't fix future shafting of others.

You could also go get a quote from another company of what needs fixing and get them to go right over it and send HO and the dealer a copy and demand for it to be fixed or legal action will follow.

You will find that the shutter rough idle and in drive will be a coil failing as they are comon once they have done over 80 000k's and even worst if the car has been tuned as it's the heat that kills them.

As soon as your warranty runs out change to a reputable service company.

Good luck.

Mate , go to a sponsor tuner and get them to go over the car before the warranty runs out. I went to tunehouse they went over the car like you would not believe. Only found 2 small things but when I turned up with the tunehouse report at the ford dealer they fixed everything perfect as I told them it would be going back to be checked by them that the work was carried out properly. It was done properly.

Jump all over them on this. I haven't bought a 2nd hand car for quite a while. The last one was an AUII XR8 ute for my son from a Expensive Daewoo dealer in Paramatta. But I got an NRMA inspection for that and all cars I have bought before that and they uncovered a number of issues that the dealer fixed up before I bought the car. Oil leaks and wheel bearing problem that were not obvious at the time. I think NRMA still do a pretty good job for the unknowing. Certainly getting it checked by an independnet organisation or mechanic is a must! Worth worth the couple of hundred bucks outlay.

ring 13FORD and put in a complaint about the dealer, 13ford actually does seem to get the service manager a bit angry and you seem to have better luck.

Dont take any sh*t, if it sounds iffy, question the sh*t out of it and ask for proof proof proof!

If all else fails, find another service agent who you trust, Aslong as they are a registered authentic mechanic your still covered by warranty.

Im un-sure as to how warranty replacement parts are issued though, the mechanic might get payed back by ford after the warranty claim is authorised..?
