2003 BA Mk1 Turbo Auto has completed somewhere around 165,000kms (will need to check). Anyway, on Sunday the Wife took it for a drive up to the Central Coast from Sydney and when she turned off the Freeway and slowed down at a round-about, she heard a noise which in her words "sounded like a kid's bike with a piece of cardboard stuck in the spokes". The noise persisted (very loudly), so she stopped at the shopping centre and called the NRMA. They determined it was a possible Transmission and/or Diff fault, and arranged a tow to the nearest Ford Dealer (where they had great difficulty getting the car off the truck because they couldn't engage reverse)

Ford Dealer looked at the car on Monday and advised the Transmission needed a rebuild and quoted a repair price of $2,990. Not like I could get a second opinion, and to be honest, we expected worse so 3k seemed "reasonable".

Anyway, picking it up tomorrow and will hopefully have a nice "new" transmission.

Well we paid for the repairs....and then went and looked at the Demo cars available in the yard.

Traded the XR6T in for an FG 2010 XR6....so will never know how well the repairs were done.
