Hi

Today when slowing down to turn into a street as I stopped the car shuddered and the engine stalled, I selected neutral and restarted the engine and put it in drive and it shuddered and stalled again, after a few times of doing this I managed to get the car rolling and engage drive.

Each time I slowed the engine wanted to stall so it was pretty tricky getting through the traffic without stopping, when I got home I could select reverse with no problem but as soon as I put in drive the engine stalled.

It feels like when you drive a manual and stop without puching the clutch in.

The car is a 2009 FG XR6 five speed auto, I know I will have to get it towed to the dealer tomorrow so any heads up on the problem would be much appreciated.

Hey PookeyMaster

Towed it to the dealer this morning and they said they had not seen such a problem before, anyway they rang me this afternoon and said they will fit a new gearbox.

Thankfully its under warranty.

I will keep you posted if they tell me what it was, but the engine idle was fine, the service manager seemed to think it was a problem with the converter.

Cheers
