I've never really understood the 'wait until the warranty runs out before modifying' line.

If you modify the car within the warranty period and something breaks then you pay for it.

If you wait to modify your car for 3 years and something breaks then you pay for it.

The only difference I can see is that you drove a stock car for 3 years.

If you want to modify your car you need to be prepared to pay for things that break. Maybe you'll be lucky and nothing will break. Most people will have some form of problem from modifying their car at some stage whether it be big or small.

yep, my diff bush is 'squishy' after 8k so the rear feels a bit floppy. Don't care as I am putting in a superpro. They OEM ones sh*t if the car is stock anyway so who cares. Same if I break a tailshaft - I'll fit a better one.

What sort of money are you looking at for a tailshaft replacement? I don'timagine they're cheap to replace... :Doh:

Ha ha I wish I could sometimes. Stuff it I would rather risk having fun on the edge than be a bubble boy. Bugger 50 this year and still punting bikes around the track. Just got 40 stiches out of the calf muscle. Hope it hold up this weekend.

I agree 100% ... you play basically you need to be prepared to pay!! ... Kiss your Ford warraty bye bye !

Hence maybe if you can't afford the repairs you might as well start with a second hand car and put the difference into building it tough.

Not everyone wants a clapped out B series and pay to fix the previous owner's punish. We're painting a picture here like the FG is a weak piece of crap and the moment you tune it, it's basically f*cked. Not saying it's you mate, but I do feel some owners of the 'old cheese' just slag off cause they're jealous and can't afford an upgrade - which is what the FG is. I do agree though that if you're planning to build a 400kw monster then it's dumb to hack up an FG, IMO.

The B series is definitely showing their age (nearing 10 yo) but there are still some good ones out there. I've got both a FG XR6T and a BA XR6T both have their good and bad points but in general the BA has been a far better car and more reliable especially under punishment.

Both are modified but I get such a tinnie feel out of the FG motor and the overall build quality does not seen as good.

Call me a clingon, old fart or whatever ... the B series are still a better bang for your buck if you are going to modify the car and want to get some serious mumbo...

Dude, what are you smoking??? :shocked:

My brother just sold his BF & it was pretty average as far as build quality. Every time you shut the door the handle cover inside fell off, it rattled & clunked. :pooh:

The series have all been quantum leap over the one before IMO. The BF was mcuh better thean the BA & the FG is better again. From BA to BF or maybe it was BF to BF II they replaced about 200 parts to sort out NVH. Maybe you just got a lemon?
