started looking at the track days that are around here, and looks like a great idea to see what the car is capable of, but more to the point of seeing what I need to learn hahaha looking forward to having a go!

after some gentle encouragement :D I'm definitely going to go down the mods path and with sensible suggestions of improving the overall package of the car (brakes, suspensions etc) this should be fun!

with regards to the warranty, I'm "umming and ahhring" about it but chances are I'll be doing that all the way to the door of my designated tuner! hehe as I don't service my own car, I think a lot of it will depend on the first service the ford dealership does on it... I guess if I'm not too happy with it, I'll probably go to my own guy and screw the warranty... this will open the flood gates of things to change on my T :D

M8, you won't screw the warranty if you don't go to fraud - that's a myth. 'A' grade mechanic, stamped book, warranty intact, that's the law. However, it doesn't mean they won't try to wriggle out though - they're pricks. I took mine there for the 3k once over freebie - never again accept for non-mechanical warranty (car has only done 8K now). It was tuned at 3K and will now be serviced by my mechanic.

Too far for you probably (and they aint cheap) but Nizpro in Melbourne used to do a package with warranty and mods (maybe still do). This is the best of both worlds really. Blow the engine and toss them the keys, air con or something else sh*ts, off to fraud. If planning a trip and like a drive, maybe that's your go. If not, as most have said, you've just gotta make the call that if you tune - mechanical warranty gone. And the thing about flash back to stock before you go in is a lucky dip. If detected, they will 'flag' your car and on the data base she goes and yes, the bastard's test gear knows everything about how may times the poor old ECU has been poked and prodded - damn!

If you can't make a decision then we'll all have make it for you. I'm for tune, next :buttrock:

funny u should mention the 3km complimentary service... do they really actually do anything? mine was booked in for one alongside some warranty issues with the glovebox and ceiling lining. I'm pretty sure they did nothing except offer me an $80 wheel alignment...

If you play with a new Ford XR6T's or F6's you need deep pockets because if you brake a drive train component then it is more than likely classified as a "catastrophic failure".

The dealer has to send the ECU to Melbourne and if you have flashed it you can kiss your drivetrain warranty goodbye... inc engine, box, diff !!

My FG popped an Oil Pump and the fix was not cheap !!

Yeah, but again it's about accepting that your 'mechanical' connection with Ford is over and good riddance IMO. Then fix the things that are inherently weak. Replace sh*t intercooler hoses, fit a better diff bush, if making big power then do a tailshaft, etc, etc. That's the game. If you don't want to play, don't modify. If I broke a diff or something now I wouldn't go near the pricks except for parts.

did they at least stamp your book? they didn't stamp mine... I should go pull them up about it... but lazy and figured it didn't really mean much anyways

They can tell if it has been flashed at any Ford dealer workshop. Doesn't need to go to Melb. with the FG.

If you Mod the drive train or motor then anything to do with the drivetrain and motor is void.

If you mod the suspension then anything to do with rattles is void. Or anything to do with the suspension like bushes so forth is void.

It does not affect the electrics, panel or interior. Unless it rattles lol.

Put an amp in it, or angel eyes or HID lighting... then there goes your electrics.

I know because they have been whittling mine down to nothing. Kewl... now I can stick the built motor in it and not give a toss.

It really all depends on your relationship with the service manager. If your going to mod it he will know within five minutes of hooking it up to R2D2. So just have a chat with him. best to take a 6 pack in with you when you do.

This is not just fraud now either. HSV are clamping down. Same with Subby. I've had both and modded both with the dealers consent. fark they even suggested parts to put in them. Not now, not anymore. They are all cutting such fine margins to stay alive. So the pencils cut the deadwood Edwood.

I hope to god this doesn't happen in the bike trade... but my guts tell me it will. Who keeps a bike stock. Who keeps anything stock ??? Stock is for faggots lol
