Hi Guys,

Going from the thread title you are all gonna go, this guy has no clue. You'd be wrong, however the PO of my new ute + a certain shop are the ones with no clue.

This will cover my build up that has just started.

Whilst looking for a ute to replace my BA XL, there was two that were in my price range, one was un-maintained, the other was this one.

About a month ago now I picked up a May 06 build Magnet Ute in Shockwave

- 75,000Km's on the clock

- 6 Speed Manual

- Just had an $800 service

- full X-Force turbo back exhaust (4-inch dump, cat, twin 2.5" stainless)

- Xcal2 with Generic Tunes

- lowered on Peders springs

- hardcover,

- tint

- the usual Magnet options.

Most importantly, a claimed 260rwkw - a nice safe number.

The first thing done was a new set of fronts that were chewed out on the inside from not having a wheel alignment and camber shim, the second thing was an alignment out at wholesale, thanks to Senna_T.

Next, I fiddled with the BOV, having it vented and not - left it at not vented, the noise was horrid.

After this I tried to fit up a new cooler that I picked up off a mate, but decided to get the hardware kit to fit it so it remains unfitted.

Then last Saturday, I took it down to Tunehouse for a power run and to make sure everything was fine. This is where the worry started.

After two quick runs on their (impressive) dyno, Jim walked out shaking his head.

"It's no good"

"F***, why?"

"Come and look at the AFR's"

It was running at 14:1 high in the rev range. The power figure was way beyond expectations - 317RWKW and ~640NM @ 12 PSI. After the last couple of weeks its had, I'm surprised it hasn't blow up.

I have been instructed not to obviously drive it on boost until the issue is fixed.

So when I get some time this week, I plan to fit up the cooler as the hardware kit has arrived. I've also bought a set of 60lb injectors off *Beep* (as much sh*t as you guys give him, he's a nice guy!).

Hopefully on Friday it goes in for a tune. My original aim was 320RWKW @ 12psi - a nice safe figure. But we will see how it goes, I'm unsure whether it has the stronger bottom end as I've read conflicting stories, but we will see when it gets tuned up whether it has the good valve springs installed.

that's my story pretty much up to today. I will grab some pictures, and can post up the dyno sheet if people are interested. It doesnt have the AFR's on it though.

Tobey.

Valve springs won't tell you anything. There the same through the while Bf 1/2 range.

Which cooler is it? Should be able to push it to low-mid 300s before you need to port the turbo.

And that power figure on stock squirters :censored: You must be glad you got it checked. Bet it went well though.

It was bought through private sale...

The work was done by CRD, but not sure how they let it out of their shop. However it looks like the fuel filter has never been done, I did that after the dyno run unfortunately, the brown stuff that came out surely wouldn't be doing fuel flow and help!

Really glad I ran it, only wish I'd done it the weekend before when I origionally planned.

I thought stronger springs indicated stronger bottom end... Wish there was a way of know which bottom end it had without pulling it down, got a high flow turbo waiting for me...

The cooler is a hyperflow boss 1, will be interested to see how it goes with all stock piping.

Pat, I only I knew it was running lean I'd never have run ya or even gone on that cruise!

Nope, there the same, if the MOTOR was built after 06 itll have the bigger rods. Theres other threads on this elsewhere.

The pipework will be restriction IMO, I think youll make around 350.

F6 in rocky with stock turbo and stock crossover making 530rwhp. Although it does have an atomic bottom end and a few other impressive breathing/exhaust mods.
