Hey guuys, not sure if this is a topic that has been brought up before.

Has anyone gone to an aftermarket ECU in a BA XR6T, most threads seem to follow Flash tuners, if it is at all possible what have been the ECUs been used?

Cheers.

a couple of cars have had aftermarket ecu's fitted with mixed success. no real point given the flexibility and tunability of the factory VCM

Some have tried Haltechs/Motecs, and as Luke says varying degrees of success.

I think simon from nizpro said somewhere thy of you want a motecfitted & tuned, he would want 15k+, and it still wouldn't be better than the xcal.

Think he used it alot in the early days and ha nothing but headaches?

I have installed and tuned VIPEC V88 ECU's on both BA XR8 and BA XR6T, they work great and also controlthe factory DBW.

However if your car has FORD 4 SPD auto then there are issues with LIMP MODE.

If it is manual or the 4 spd auto has been changed to a C4 or TH400 etc then no worries.
