Pricing Of Reconditioning Tubo?

I am wondering what prices I would be paying to recondition my turbo. I believe that its mainly the bearings that's noisy but the wheels arent hitting or anything. I have had a couple of quote to get it done which have ranged from $1600 to $2200. Are there any shops here that would look after us, etc.

Anyway advice would be great.

Im also considering getting the actuator and flapper done while its off the car, might as well.

Whatever you pay it will be too much considering how much it actually costs to produce a turbo.

Would be interested also, been recently told by my mechanic that my turbo is sounding very loud on wind down, possibly worn bearings.

Its actually cheaper to buy a replacement, swap the cover and rear housing over and sell it for $500 with noisy bearings, the housings are easily worth that money and then your only paying $1000 to $1200 for a brand new core, not a reco. Alternatively you can buy a GT35 less turbine housing for $1500.

by the looks of it, seems cheaper also to buy a turbo from the states alot cheaper than they cost here but I dont know exactly which one I would have to order.

There was a thread on here not long ago where someone bought the same part number as the factory core from the US for just under 1k delivered. Swap your bits onto the core and your off again.

that's about $400-$500 cheaper than what they are here. would be great if I was certian of the pat numbers

If you give them the turbo they should only charge you about $600 to replace the bearings and balance it then you have a smooth quiet turbo again. No need for a whole new turbo if only the bearings are stuffed.

Im pretty sure that a whole new cartidge is $1450 from some places here and in Australia and the ebay one is about $895US

I have heard that if im going to replace the cartridge then use the centre bearings from the FG model as they are more larger and heavier duty than the BA-BF ones, but you still use the wheels off the BF turbocharger.

Why do you want a whole new cartridge? Do you know what is actually wrong with your turbo?
