Most of my socket sets and spanners are JBS and I can't fault them, they had more in each kit than sidchrome and that was what swayed me, lifetime warranty too.

Only thing to watch out for with kinchrome is the rebadged stuff in the kit that is just a generic Chinese/Taiwanese tool with kinchrome branding.

SP tools do decent kits and have a lifetime warranty too.

Most important thing is lifetime warranty. Don't touch anything that doesn't have it.

Congrats on the apprenticeship mate, your going to use these tools for a long time so look at the good stuff.

My mechanic mate has a lot of snap-on,he reckons its favourite , quality feel and build to them. What does your employer use/recommend?

You can always buy snap-on later as the funds allow, ebay US is a great place to buy them.

For the home garage I use bahco-(sandvik) , top tul and king tony. Koken is another great brand if the funds stretch that far.

If your just starting out I wouldnt bother with snap on or bluepoint, kingchrome are good for the price. The first kit I got was FORCE and some of it has out lasted my snap on stuff.

The one thing I will say is buy a set of snap on or bluepoint ratchet spanners, best investment youl make. Also stay away from teng tools, may as well work with a brick.

Also SP make some great stuff, my rollcab and top box and side cupboard are all SP, great quality
