Traction in first gear.. what's that lol. Stupid dunlops.

Bridgestone re11 all the way mate.

It's unfortunate the ad08's (which I have as my current street rears but in 18" and highly recommend) don't have the correct load rating, unless you change wheel size too?

The best tyre combo at present in my opinion is still Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics on the front and a good semi like re11 or ad08 on the rear.

There are some great tyres listed on this page which I don't think you could go wrong with most of them. Trying to find grip off the mark in a car capable of this much torque with any tyre is going to be difficult especially if you have a tough tune. I have some RE55S semis on 18's that still struggle to grip if not really hot. I've come to the conclusion that if the tyres aren't hot then a clean take off is not going to happen and if you do happen to have a traffic light encounter then it's unlikely your going to heat them up before launching.

I have just about worn out my Pirelli P Zeros which I've managed to squeeze 20000k's from and they have been a great tyre. But like any tyre if you want them to grip hard they need to be hot. The grip level can change depending on the ambient temp and what power my car is making. First gear is a waste of time in my car no matter what tyre I've used but the P Zeros when hot will grip right through second.

I'm contemplating going some Nitto NT05's which seem to look good for traction and rather cheap compared to others. I have considered RE11's from Tire Rack which get awesome reviews. Just check shipping costs as they have gone through the roof since the Aus dollar is so strong.

I haven't been able to find much info on pricing for the nitto tyres but read alot about noise so will get a set of re11's for the rear and source something locally for the front. I'll get them in a few weeks unless someone has a better idea

Hey Mate,

I picked mine up from Wheelboyz at Yatala which is down the Gold Coast way in SEQ. From memory it was around $300 per tyre. All Nitto Tyres are Grey imported as there is no authorised distributor in AUS. Nitto tyres are made in the same factor as Toyo and from what I was told they didn't want these tyres distributed here due to competing against Toyo dealers in AUS..

Depending on what you want from a tyre, these may or may not be for you. As mentioned previously, they are noisy and I think I will be lucky to get 12-15K out of them. But the grip levels in both wet and dry is very good and did hold my previous power levels of around 400rwkw very well. However with my new power levels, as expected, the 245 size tyres just can't cope.. But hey, I don't think a full slick 245 tyre could.. Still once you get some heat into them, they do cope reasonably well.

I'm interested in the RE-11 as well. You have to import them yourself. About $1800 for a set of 4 including freight and gst and import duty blah blah.

I asked a Bridgestone shop here and they said the RE-11 have been superceded by the Adrenaline RE001. I don't think that's right though.
