With methanol you would be needing 12 1600cc injector's in a big HP application not 6, also I would'nt be driving around on methanol to long if I were you unless you are not wearing a complete face mask of some sort, it is toxic and the vapours can blind and or kill you...

If in doubt *Beep* ask dion to start something up that's on methanol if his got something running on it down there and stand behind it and tell him to give it a few big rev's and give you a gulp full of the fumes, if you not running out the door washing your eyes and skin within a minute you deserve a pat on the back...

yep that's a big side effect. all the toxins. You couldn't run methanol daily where as e85 at least you can. Still does smell a bit over normal fuel but methanol ...ye... best bet only use methanol once/twice a week for a bit.

Jet "needing 12 1600cc injector's in a big HP application" how friken big are we talking about there? I comparing e85 to methanol at realistic figures people can get without going full drag spec. So about 450-500rwkw.

Well, as you well know you need bigger injector's, more pump's, and generally a complete bigger fuel system to run E85 on a big power engine, im pretty sure methanol is alot thirstier again hence the need for more of everything...

Let me give everyone a bit of a chemistry lesten methanol chemical formula is. Coh and ethanol is ccoh. The difference is invtge amount of carbon oh is the acohol. Due to its chemical formula methanol is easy to ignite cause of its lower combusting point .now methanol is very treaky to set up if u have not had the chance to play with it .due to its lower melting point yes u need big pumps and injectors but inturn it is very cold allowing more timing to be thrown in the car plus more boost cause of its thermal advantage as with heat there is friction. Now the major problem with methanol is and the trickey part is when it burns it releases oxygen .the more oxygen in the motor the greater the chance of it leaning out causing major dramas so it becomes a big hedache for the tuner that's y u see most alcohol carrs running a belt driven fuel pump and fuel logs etc . I guess when seet up right it has its advantages u dont even need to run a cooler.look at these twin turbo v8 running big numbers no coolers.

Just touch there intake manifolds and they are freezing cold the other problem is it has no lubrication in it .killing injectors with time and sensors and because the tunes in these cars have to be run so fat to avoid leaning out just check the condition of the oil when u have done a few runs it looks like a milkshake

.so methanol good for making power and it is also cheap but uu will need a rebuild sooner than u think

im running 6x 2433cc as an initial methanol based fuel system.

then you have to use alcohol tolerant fuel pumps, remembering that alcohol lowers the HP rating of the fuel pump, etc

In saying all this e85 from a drum has 105 octane and e100 has 115 octane .e85 from the bowser is not always 85 % . More like e70 100 octane if that with a lower flash pt from petrol so u use more just becareful when filling from the bowser. Best order some bp e100 20litre drums. But dnt forget the longer these sit there and not used the quicker they degrade as exposed to oxygen and to there hydroscopic properties
