people are going to do it if its illegal or not, im a sensible driver with the odd squirt when its SAFE, I also use my phone ocasionally but driving comes first but really who doesnt use their phone, a lot of my mates use it also but always put it down when a turn is coming up or somthing that requires a bit of concentration and they or I dont even come close to an accident or a near miss. Its the stupid drivers that kill people weather theres laws or not one of my mates who is just a fu**head of a driver will purposly flog his car infront of kids wich is just stupid or use his phone sitting on facebook or txting the entire ride having near misses every km or so sometimes we dont even feel safe in the car with him driving and I along with everyone else in the car tells him to not do it stop being a BEEP but he thinks hes invinsible and tells us to relax its ok, its people like this who need to be off the road but how are cops going to no who are the good drivers just going for a sunday drive or on there phone but being safe at the same time compared to idiots...they dont and were paying for it.

at the end of the day life aint fair and u have to put up with it road tolls are never going to drop to zero no matter how many laws there are because there are always going to be idiot drivers who ruin it for everyone else.

I've thought of something else which needs addressing.

Wouldn't looking at your speedo all the time be classed as a distraction? With the law even getting nasty about 5km/h over it requires a lot of concentration and attention to not go slightly over the speed limit.

Love to bring that up as a defence in court...

Lol if you ever do make sure you record it...

But it is true, I find myself looking at little than the speedo when passing by a local safety camera. Same place where I used to be VERY careful at as I've seen few accidents there. I figure I can't afford a fine but if someone can afford to turn in front of me and be t boned it's their choice, I'm just doing what the government wants me to.

The amount of times I have looked down at my speedo at intersections is stupid, im surprised I have not rear ended anyone just to make sure im 5k's under the lime in case there is a camera. Surely that is more dangerous than fully concentrating on the road and the intersection as you pass through it

It'll never get up! There is only so much stupidity that one can tollerate. The phones and the like in the hands of the already bad drivers is the problem.

Been saying it for years.

It's not the talking. But the amount of people I see texting, or even reading one while driving is a joke. The amount of mobiles on the floor of a car at an accident, still on the text page. For mine as bad if not more dangerous then hooning. Crush them and thier freeken car.

Once again it comes back to what you are capable of. And why I think we have to be graded for what and where and how we drive.

Then if we stuff up they can throw the book at us. You lose that or more gradings. Back to the Hyundai you bum !!!

Texting is dangerous, I can not read or write one without taking my eyes off the road and concentrating on the message. Especially now on a touch phone, don't even consider writing one...

I don't think this will go away, I just need to look at my job (driving trains), its an instant dismissal now. We can't really run up someones arse or weave into the next lane either and always need to watch our speed and smile for the CCTV etc etc etc. Our job is undertaking changes the airline industry made years ago, and the trucking industry is following us and now Joe public.

Unfortunately our society takes the easy route and regulates to the lowest common denominator.

It's not the singers that bother me it's the ones you pull up next to at the lights & they are banging out a beat on the steering wheel with their eyes closed...

Dangerous stuff, maybe they should just ban women drivers that's 85% less crashes in one hit. :stirthepot:
