A research has shown that talking on the phone while it does increase a chance of an accident it's no more dangerous than listening to the radio or talking to someone in the car. So what is next? Ban radios and introduce the taxi like capsule around the driver but of course sound proof. This is mu favourite part..."We've come to the conclusion that we are going to have to do things differently if we are going to get that road toll lower,"And what exactly are you doing differently??? Was interesting to hear it's as bad as talking to a passenger though...I believe there's a line in the learn to drive book which says you should be able to drive and carry on a conversation at the same time, ironic. Funny thing is it's quite often these people who think you are a hazard if you do 5km/h over. We always get fed this 'speed kills' message but it's mostly stupidity which kills. eg.Speed + alcoholSpeed + drugsSpeed + driving with your head up your ass (as in people who can't drive & do something else at the same time but they still do anyway)Some people are incapable of driving a car even when they are using 100% concentration while there are others who could text with one hand, eat a burger with the other, rub the dog on the passenger seat with their left foot & still drive perfectly. They should weed the bad ones out at the start & it would fix 95% of the problem. Will passengers be banned soon as well? Do these "experts" think before the spew sh*t? When do we ban all the other distractions? Passengers, radio, gps, AC in fact all the buttons in the car should automatically be disabled as soon as the car is moving (I probably shouldn't give them ideas). I mean where does it stop?Few weeks ago some doctors decided to hang banners on the princess highway somewhere between Sydney and Brisbane in actual black spots warning drivers and asking to be careful and these RTA wankers took them down. A message like that is more likely to get people to slow down than their wank fest "5k over the limit will kill you". Personally nothing makes me slow down and think twice like flowers hanging on trees and poles and last year they were debating to ban this. Don't even want to get in to the fact that they would not allow people take flowers to where their lowed ones died. But this really sends out the message, better than their stupid "pinkie" campaign. The other day a right lane hogger on the freeway showed me her pinkie because I flashed my lights behind her to move left, great campaign RTA. Should have taught the bitch some road rules instead.
