Secondly, you have a phone that was released in 2010, and your car built in 2009 doesn't work properly with it. Im not surprised. I'll bet the FG doesn't work very well with the iphone 85 either, but we might have to wait a while to find out. (not having a go, well maybe a little, but just pointing out the timeline here)

My phone was built, received and used before my car was built..... and I have the same problem as above.

I'll question my local dealer on Tuesday when it goes in for a service.

Interestingly enough my iphone is newer than my car and it works fine.

All comes back to what I said first in my post - the system was never designed for the iphone. Try a new territory when they come out and see the difference in integration.

Voice dialing has always worked on my 3gs

Ford didn't design the iphone 4 bluetooth to work with the car (actually, to put it correctly, Ford didn't design iphone's bluetooth at all - apple did. Ford only designed the the car) since iphone 4 wasn't even a glint in Steve Jobs' eye when the system was designed. Rather, the bluetooth just so happens to work (but only on occasion as some would agree).

I have no issues with the ipod side of things, only bluetooth. The frustration is with the different behaviour for different people. Some people have no issue, others can't make anything work, a problem not restricted to cars mind you!

EDIT: Gussa - check out the release dates of the two documents you've referenced. Round of applause for you.

Bunna - What relevance does this have? It shows that Ford have continued to test phones after the cars have been released, but failed to update the software accordingly?

It means you're having a dig a Ford for having the iphone 4 on the bluetooth list and not the ipod one, when the ipod list is clearly dated prior to the existence of the iphone 4, and is over a year older than the bluetooth list.

OK. So why would Ford test an Iphone 4 for Bluetooth and not the Ipod connection? And why wouldn't after testing these phones Ford support their software and update it?

Anyway arguing about this doesn't solve the problem because it can't be solved unless an update is released supporting the Iphone 4 Ipod connection correct? - That's all I, and the others, needed to know.

The message doesn't bother me mate, its when it doesn't function properly, cuts in/out etc.

iPhones are a problem in lots of cars and it seems to vary user to user. My son's iPhone in his ute is unusable really. I have a Blackberry in the 6T and it is fantastic. My wifes Android in her car works fine.

Some interesting figures out recently about mobile phones.

1. Android phones are the leading Smartphone

2. Nokia smartphones and next.

3. iPhone is a poor third and decreasing continually.

Another thing I heard and not yet substantiated, but from a very reliable source, is that BlackBerry it ditching their proprietary system and moving to Android platform!

This all says a lot to why people are falling way in droves from iPhone. Once you see through the gimics, they really are not that good.

Lol, I can't see how your dig at apple I phones has anything to do with Bluetooth connection...

Ford may well have tested the ipod connection - we can't tell since your linked document is 18 months old. This is the point I've been making in my last three posts. I will endeavour to be clearer in future.

And regarding the iphone 4 ipod connection - I don't believe the OP had an issue with ipod functionality, he certainly didn't mention anything specific apart from the same message that everyone (or so I believed) gets when connecting any iphone (I get it on my 3gs for example).

His issue was with bluetooth dropping out, which again, going by your information, is supported for iphone 4 with the C software, and what's more has diddly squat to do with the ipod support, as pointed out by Dillz.

So in summary - there is no issue with the message. It is not unique to iphone 4.
