I have recently purchased an iphone 4 because as we all know, the FG series is designed to integrate seamlessly with apple. When I plug the phone in the phone displays the following "This accessory is not optimized for this iphone...You may experience noise caused by cellular interference and a decrease in cellular signal strength"" The phone still works through the ICC but I have noticed it often drops out or disconnects. I have liaised with the local dealer who have been as helpful as they can.. What we believe is the issue is that an 09 build date has a series "B" software package but for the iphone 4 to work properly it needs the newer series "C" software package. Problem is that the dealer can't find a way to update and I am having a real hard time believing that such a high end car would allow itself to be outdated so quickly. Does anyone know a solution?? Cheers, Mike

Does it pair via bluetooth without being plugged in?

Calling Ford will be my next step but want to try and see who else is dealing with this...particularly with the prevalence of new iphones. Whilst I was at the dealer I was shown a documents from the suppliers of the bluetooth module which I believe the ipod connecter links directly in to. It lists all phones and details which version of softwarte is needed to run it. It clearly states version "c", problem is there is the dealer can't update. They also noted that the bluetooth module which used to have several versions in spare parts has been merged to one part number. Does this help?? Can't say the same about dropouts but call quality is so poor I don't use it anyway. Just use it for music.

Only thing is I somehow (or it did it itself) made it so it doesn't cut the music anymore which is a PITA.

If your with optus, maybe its a combination of the message and the reception? If there is a firmware update of some kind, please post it up because I'll do the same.! :D

My son's iPhone in his ute is unusable really. I have a Blackberry in the 6T and it is fantastic. My wifes Android in her car works fine. Some interesting figures out recently about mobile phones.1. Android phones are the leading Smartphone2. Nokia smartphones and next.3. iPhone is a poor third and decreasing continually.Another thing I heard and not yet substantiated, but from a very reliable source, is that BlackBerry it ditching their proprietary system and moving to Android platform! This all says a lot to why people are falling way in droves from iPhone. Once you see through the gimics, they really are not that good. Edited 11/03/11 01:42 AM by Pete A

Cheers, MikeOk first of all - who told you that the FG range was designed to work streamlessly with apple? Sounds like bull. Anyway, when the software was designed for that system the iphone hadn't even started being sold in this country, and the most advanced ipod was a nano that may have had a colour screen.I get the same message with my 3gs every time I plug it in but I also have no real gripes with the system. Sure, every now and then voice dialing doesnt work the first time, or the ipod side of things takes its time connecting, but every time im able to fix it but "reseting" - unplug the iphone, turn off the radio, plug it all back in and try again. The rest of the time it works fine. Not sure if I have B or C software, but I definitely got it upgraded from what it was (mines an 08).Secondly, you have a phone that was released in 2010, and your car built in 2009 doesn't work properly with it. Im not surprised. I'll bet the FG doesn't work very well with the iphone 85 either, but we might have to wait a while to find out. (not having a go, well maybe a little, but just pointing out the timeline here)I can confirm what you need to get to C software next week. FIngers crossed!
