Hey guys and gals.

Thought I had better sign up to this forums since I bought a new 50th anniversary Xr6t ute a few months ago!

I have had a read of a few posts, and like most motivated forums, the advice seems to be very helpful!

Hopefully I can add a few things I find out with my car along the way!

I did however, especially to all those other 50th anniversary ute fanatics, want to ask if you found any abnormalities with your new toy?

Don't get me wrong, I love the car, I have just found the quality to be a little bit lower than expected and I am just trying to find out if it is my car, or the model its self!

Coming from a Skyline background, perhaps I am simply too picky for Aussie made cars, but I have found the Gearbox (6sp man) and clutch exceptionally noisy at low rpm. To describe it, when changing from first to second, when disengaging the clutch, without touching the gearbox, multiple clunking sounds occur, which only seem to happen at low RPM.

After asking the dealership, I got the response "that's how they make them, and we have had a few people come back with the same complaint".

I have already gotten over the problem but I just wondered if anyone else got it too??

When I picked up the car initially, the right tail light didn't function and one of the flip key's programming had failed.

Any ways, months have passed and I do enjoy this car, especially with the dog in the back :-). I just wanted some closure on this gearbox thing to see if mine was a dud or not and if I should continue to pressure ford to investigate it.

Nice to meet you all.

Skyline owners :bangcomputer: :bangcomputer: :stirthepot:

The rollover noise is normal. The box has triple synchros and all the bells and whistles.

Programming a key is a 30sec job, so someone must have just overlooked it.

Ahh good. I'm glad it is mechanically normal :buttrock:

Well, I had to book another time, where a new key was cut. Something else must have gone wrong. But its fine now :-)

Ford will never give you a straight answer I guess. But now they've fixed the key it's fixed I guess.

Enjoy the new car anyway, any plans for it? What model skyline did you UPgrade from?

You are correct mate. Everything is fixed and sorted :-)

I upgraded from an R34, which I did enjoy but the ute does suit my lifestyle more. Very practical.

No plans as of yet because I am afraid of voiding the 3yr new car warranty.

P.s. Nice numberplate

:welcome2:

The gearbox noise is to be expected when you've got an old clunky piece of agricultural machinery in there....if you want refinement and 21st century you should have gone the ZF. Hey Henz? :stirthepot:

The ZFs aren't that bad! They are nearly perfect....

If you like to cross your legs while you drive.

If you like applying your makeup on the way to bowls with Madge and Mabel.

If just thought of pushing a pedal down all the way makes your arthritic knees tremble.

If the sound of a BOV makes you want to stop walking your poodle, walk straight home and write an angry letter to ACA.

Yeah its good fun. Apparently I got the last white manual one for Vic.... Or so I was informed.

Don't worry, I'm sure in 6 months time there will be something bigger and better :D

And to Henz and Tab;

I see I have stumbled upon a Superman / Kryptonite thing hey? Unfortunately tab, seeing as I have the manual, your the bad guy who always loses :D :hammerhead::stirthepot:
