I have a small gutter scrape under the LHS coner of the front bar... It's not visible and it can stay there ... I'm sure there'll be other kerbs.. kerb wasn't so high in that case rather the dip in the parking space that I didn't account for, hence only being on one side.

It's my answer to friends that suggest Bruce needs to be dumped 40mm more ;)

I figure if it gets really really mongy in a couple of years the bar can be replaced for less that the over time cost of fixing each little scrape (non visible of course)

So which colour is having the most problems being colourmatched?

I can imagine what Phantom would look like mis matched... *shudders* but can't picture in my head a mis matched blueprint.....

As for Hagag.... how does one mess up grey?

*apologies to ExAreSix because he is suffering with the rest of us, we don't blame all Hagag's, just Ken ;) *

If you are going through insurance, make sure it is done by a REPUTABLE panel beater.... that way the colour match should be very close. It is virtually impossible to sucessfully colour match factory paint. :(

it must be that HgAg crowd.

we will blaim ken cause he's there leader.

Firstly, I'm not their "leader", just someone with the good sense and taste to own the best colour in the range ...

Secondly, I would never wish any harm on any XR owner, reguardless of sex, colour or creed. Besides, non-HgAg owners have enough problems just living with their ill-informed colour choice. B) :hiwelcome:

*nods* Thanks to past experience with Canberra panel beaters I have left a list of people NOT to touch the car with the insurance company (AAMI).. They're pretty good like that, My leading preference based on experience is Edwards Spray Centre in Fyshwick, with Hall Bros close on their heels. Both have matched previous cars perfectly - even with whacky red-orange pearls coats ;)

Don't gvet too excited about the bumper bars. I am speaking from a little incident that occured when driving a mates XR6T. The front bumper bar cover (plastic only) is $1600 trade. One for my rex was $400. Roughly the same amt of plastic in both I reckon...

Rear bar may be different, hopefully...

Craig Hall did a great color match on my XR6T front bar a few months back, could not have been more pleased.

Will AAMI decide where it goes ?

Last year with my other car I got the quotes myself for AAMI then presented them to them to decide.

Strange (NOT) they chose the cheapest. Luckily I had worked the quotes so the guys I wanted was cheapest.

CraigH, yes they 'decide' however a little known fact is that you as the insured can specify from their list of preferred repairers a short list, or (as I have done) exclusions. Or it can be done the way you did.

In the past (and we're talking the last 4 cars, and quite a few years) with AAMI I've done the quoting myself and found Hall Bros to be excellent (they att eh time where the preferred rapairer for the car manufacturer I had) and AAMI went with their higher priced but more thoruough quote.

Other times I've used the AAMI valet service, both times not choosing the exculsions or inclusions. I ended up with Edwards once (perfect job and excellent service) and CAnberra Body works who did a good bit of work with the painting and fitting however the on-going 'problems' were evident of a lack of attention to detail Required to reassemble a Clio. Each time I found one AAMI was obligated to take it back to them for retification and each time it wasn't fully completed so it dragged on.

Needless to say they're now on my exclude list.

I find that while people recommend workshops if the staff change then the quality immediately can change. The tinting is a good example. The tinters I used came very highly recommended by many people. Yet my job is visually not matching expectation and finish I see on other BAs.

Panel shops are only as good as the painter, the panel worker, the diassambly and prep guy etc. A good team will do wonders a bad egg in the team with ruin the cusomter experience.
