We might bag the government and many people thought they may have overreacted about Yasi but that figures really goes to show that the QLD government did the right thing. Caught some news this morning and the journo's were full of crap as per usual but Anna Bligh has handled a sh*t 4 weeks very well I think.

I wonder how Yorky's Knob faired? I love that marina / bar.

Apparently 3 babies as one lady had twins in an evac centre??

I live in Cairns, we decided to stay at my sisters big house as my house has very large mango trees behind it which if fell during the cyclone would destroy the house.

I got home to find that the cyclone had done bugger all, few broken branches and tore my letterbox lid off.

However the house was damaged internally.

We locked our dogs in the bathroom.

We discovered you can not contain 2 pitbulls and an American staff in a bathroom during a cyclone, they ate a hole through the door and then proceeded to eat the inside of our house.

We also had a large electrical storm for a couple of hours yesterday arvo, massive lightning and poured rain.

John your garage has a bit of damage and seems to be missing a big intercooler :fishin:

Hope your place is ok though, good to hear you were properly insured. My family's places in wangan are off ok with only a lil shed going at my grandparents. We have plenty of generators and supplies so everyone should be right.

I got a call from Qantas saying my flight was cancelled but if I got my arse to the airport I could make it out of cairns. Ended up having a 9 hr stopover in brissie airport and made it to perth as planned. Bit of a tough call to leave the gf by herself just as they made the call to evac her street but it ended up heading miles south of her place and she got through unscathed anyway.

BJ do you reckon my engine survived?

Looks like it was not as bad as it could have been.

I hope all the forum members up there are alright and their families and possesions survived intact.

Similarly, I'd like to wish everyone the best with their recovery efforts. It's not as bad as we expected, but it's still nasty between Townsville and Cairns

Veva the workshop it was in is big and well built, fairly new. Only problem would be the flooding today possibly as that area does flood a bit. It should be fairly safe. If it is flood damaged in the workshop I will gladly return your money next time I am home (4 weeks). I need vodafone coverage to confirm any internet banking transfers.

I agree, under the circumstances I think Bligh has done a great job. Shes been through a hell of a month and shes copped it from all sides, she's done well and will be getting my vote.

Yorkeys Knob faired well, the marina I think is still good I think. havent heard anything to say its damaged. its a good place for a few quiet ones too.

we had power all the way through the cyclone, but some parts of Cairns lost power and still are without it. theres a few traffic lights out around the place which make driving around a bit of a hassle so apart from that and a crap load of trees and branchs down the place isnt too bad.
