For those up here in Cairns and FNQ, goodluck and stay safe while this big mother of a bastard gives us one hell of a blowjob.

Make sure the cars are locked up or insured too.

Just spoke to my best mate . All fresh food is on the bench.

Both fridges are full of beer.

No need to panic for another 24 hours. Stay safe people

Yeah my fridge is stocked with beer and more beer. 2 generators ready to go, the xr has a full tank, windows are taped and most of the outdoor furniture has been chucked into the pool so it's pretty much sit and wait.

Somewhat scary and I get the feeling this is not your typical cyclone.. Perhaps not even worth hanging around. Much easier to rebuild a house but not so a family.

Saw a picture on Performance forums comparing Yasi to Katrina / Larry and Tracy. Crazy stuff indeed

Looks like your going to cop it in Cairns more than us Townsville folk-

Gday Brett,

Word amongst the weather gurus is there's a strong chance it's going to hook a hard left and head SW to Townsville. It was tracking West for most of the day till early this evening. Last couple of updates has it tracking WSW. So will be interesting to see if it turns further durng the early morning.

There was a trough down south keeping it up, but the trough has since weakened and may suck Yasi down. We aren't out of the woods yet down here.

Hope you are prepared mate, stay safe.

Same goes for the rest of the NQ'ers.

1. Thats not an image of Tracy lol

2. The comparisons aren't relevant. 1000mm (TCY) how long?, Tracy for eight hours?, why not 24h

3. Tracy moved slowly across Darwin at 8kph

3. What about duration of event?

Bit of a media hype up as the stats aren't really relevant?

Yeh I realised after looking closer that "Tracy" is actually over Broome rather than Darwin...

But regardless its going to be bloody windy.

From the BOM warning

Maximum 10-Minute Wind: 100 knots [185 km/h]

Maximum 3-Second Wind Gust: 140 knots [260 km/h]
