At work on Friday night my car smelt a bit funny. A quick look around revealed nothing and all seemed fine. Popped in to the local service centre (Coffey ford Hallam) and the guys there quickly put it up on a hoist and had a look. Seems the pinion seal in the diff was damaged

They ordered a new seal and booked me in for monday morning, Advised me not to drive much and that was all.

On the way home it seemed ok, same as on the way there I suppose. Went to pull in the driveway and heard an odd sound and then the whole car bucked like I was hit from behind. Thought oh sh*t so I parked it and have to wait until Monday for a service centre to open.

Went past the service centre today and noticed a trail of oil on the road and was laughing saying it was probably mine- IT WAS!! it went all the way into my court and then a big puddle where I left the car.

I'm pretty sure it screwed now. Has anyone had the diff replaced in an FG? If so how long did it take for them to do it?

Anything I should know?

Car will be towed to service centre on monday by roadside assist

I had my diff replaced as it had a whine about 80 - 90kmph.

Nothing like you have mentioned.

In saying that - if under warrenty ford should be replacing it. Especially if you took it to them and they said it was ok to drive but limit it as much as possible.

It took ford about 4 hours to do my Diff.

I had them look at a few other things at the same time, so it might take less.

Glad I did take it in as its been not 6 months and no other issues. (touch wood)

Dave

Modded car = no drive line warranty.

You'll be pushing it for ford to fix it under warranty

It didn't break through mechanical force. And my car is no more powerful than stock. Not tuned or anything. Warranty is not an issue. Thankfully car is not where I want it to be yet!! pretty sure they will try and blame everything even my light globes to get out of it. we'll see. I will keep everyone posted.

Thanks!

So an update for anyone interested.. Car was towed to the service centre by roadside. They sent a really nice guy who took the time to look after my car getting it on the truck, anyway.. I phoned them when they opened and told them- the guy on the phone wasn't surprised. A new diff should be there soon and hopefully good as new again. These guys have been really good to deal with so far, they need loan cars though. Mazda were good for that- you hand them your keys they hand you loan car keys, swap back when the car is ready, I even got Mazda to fit my dump pipe and engine mounts, took 2 days but I had a loan car so I didn't care!

Apparently they don't give out cars overnight at this dealer which makes it hard for me as I work night shift and need to get to work!!

Car is still there. No idea whats going on. They did manage to get me a loan car though so im a bit more patient. Hoping to hear more from them soon.

I complained to FPV about the delay an d the lack of a loan car. They didn't care. I won't be purchasing another vehicle from them that's for sure. 8000km and I already tell everyone not to touch one.
